Tax considerations for a resident in Spain receiving inheritance from the UK following family death - 10 replies

AndrewM Posted by AndrewM in Taxes in Alicante City: Suma, NIE and general tax advice on Thu Jan 11, 2024 1:21pm

Hello,

I have been a resident in Spain for a number of years. My father back in the UK recently died and left his estate to be divided among his four children. It will likely be about one month before an approximate estate value is known and then (as it includes a UK house that needs to be sold) about another six months before the estate is ready to be distributed. According to UK law, inheritance tax will be paid from the estate to the UK government. I will then receive my share of what's left.

I spoke to my Spanish accountant about this and he is of the opinion that the death is subject to UK law and therefore I do not need to explicitly declare the inheritance in Spain. I am already declaring my UK bank accounts in modelo 720 and patrimonio declarations. He said that I just need to include the inherited amount in the next declarations. This does not sound right to me, so I just wondered if anyone else has had any experience with this?

Thanks,

Andrew

Robert1 Posted by Robert1 in Moving to Alicante City: tips and advice on Fri Dec 29, 2023 1:06pm

Hi,

We are a small family relocating shortly to Alicante. Advice on the below question would be very much appreciated.

Could anyone recommend the best (and most affordable) carrier for household goods, please - from SW England to Alicante City?

Many thanks.

My son removed his grey hoodie and gave it to me when we left the beach and were walking to Rambla Nunez 24. Its his favourite hoodie.

Towing a trailer - 3 replies

Bopster Posted by Bopster in General Alicante City discussion on Mon Dec 4, 2023 10:33am

Hello everyone, I'm driving to our holiday home in January to start for a couple of months in our car towing a trailer.

The trailer will be a single or twin axle max load 750kg. I believe this means it won't need any supplimentary documents, ITV etc? Over 750kg does though I think?

Are there any other requirements I need to be aware of?

I'll ensure my Breakdown service are aware I'm towing
