This is subject to independent verification but if accurate and you're one of those stubbornly hanging onto a UK licence I would suggest that you act now and at least set in motion the exchange process.

The alternative could be a Spanish driving test.

Another blow to the large numbers of Expats who have lived here for years illegally by not conforming to Spanish Laws and Regulations.

I've lived in Cabo Roig now for 6 months. Six months away from my seventh birthday but have decided to swap my UK driving license before Brexit as recommended.  I think Torrevieja is the nearest place to me where i can have the medical and do the cognitive test.  Looking at the website i see that there are five medical centres. Does anyone have a recommendation. I don't as yet speak Spanish.  Thanks.

I think you will find they have taken the UK off any appointments as of yesterday for driving licence exchanges

All is not lost!

You don't need an appointment. They've just changed the procedure. You get an application in before the end of this month, then do all the formalities after. Have a look at:

Exchange:

https://sede-org.dgt.gob.es/sede-electronica/es/permisos-de-conducir/canje-permisos/canje-permisos-extranjeros/canje-renovacion-sustitucion-uk/canje-permisos-uk/index.shtml

Renewal:

https://sede-org.dgt.gob.es/sede-electronica/es/permisos-de-conducir/canje-permisos/canje-permisos-extranjeros/canje-renovacion-sustitucion-uk/renovacion-permiso-uk/index.shtml

Dig a bit further and it says:

1. The previous request can be made:

1. Online , accessing with your digital certificate to our application application , electronic ID or your cl @ ve credentials .

2. By phone . Through the telephone 060. After verifying your data, we will proceed to make the request to be able to make the extraordinary exchange.

3. In person , by submitting the application that you can download on this same page at any Headquarters or Traffic Office . You can go directly to your headquarters without having to request an appointment.

I'd bet there will be a few people regretting that they didn't do what I keep recommending about getting an electronic certificate.
