For anyone interested, Lumsden's are holding a live online auction starting at 8.30 this morning, could be some bargains to be had.

Be very careful as most of these items are returns ,end of lines from the UK , check that they are complete [ even boxes that appear to be sealed can have items missing ..!!!] and are working , some can be withdrawn items that are banned in the UK, that are electrically unsafe or have no C E mark ..
Also check that they function correctly and don't just turn on . ie kettles, mixers and coffee machines
Just be aware and use common sense and inspect/test ,as you do not get a refund just a credit note or exchange ….!!!
Happy hunting ..!!
Also be aware that you do not get caught up in auction fever as some folks do and pay more than what the item costs new !!!!!

I looked at the offerings early this morning and will be checking the progress of a couple of items.
The advice above is good, but don't let it deter you. I bought a bandsaw in the previous online auction, and this was brand new with minor damage to the base which was easily corrected. I got it for a price including auction fees of less than half that I would have paid on Amazon.
Two things I'd point out:
Just because an item is in an auction, don't expect to get it for nowt. Lumsdens in general attract good prices for both seller and buyer.
To avoid getting caught up in auction fever, decide the maximum you're willing to pay, allowing for fees and IVA, and place a proxy bid for that maximum. For example, without me checking what the bidding steps are, if you bid proxy €50 and the maximum other bid is €35, then you'll win the bidding at €40.
PS: Please don't bid on either of the 3D printers in the auction - I'm tempted and don't want to see the bidding go too high.

3D printers can be fun, useful. My Business partner in the UK bought one a few years ago. Started off printing models of himself and other things. Now he’s more experienced he download a drone conversion kit for the Phantom 2. The Phantom 2 is mostly obsolete for any commercial/hobby drone photography.
What he has is 3D templates for a new airframe and parts that use the Phantom 2 electronics. What he’s doing is printing out all the parts. Dismantling the Phantom 2 and retrofitting all the motors and electronics.
If you get a 3D printer (Jim) I can pass on any questions you have. He’s using mostly free software to create and print models.

That's kind of you - thanks very much. I'll see what the bidding is like just before the auction closes and decide whether or not to have a go. As someone who does a lot of craft work, a 3D printer would be very useful and could save me a lot of time.
