Good grief.....I have lived in Almoradi for 10 years and there is absolutely no mosquito problem, any more than any other part of Spain.  We are not near a river (unlike Torrevieja) and the streets are constantly being cleaned along with the bins.  Some people are ummmmm….??

Agreed, much ado about nothing ;-) Only really a concern if you are near one of the salt lakes, a water reservoir or a large body of water. Otherwise, they are not a problem. I believe at the moment, I have not suffered one Mosquito bite (yet) this season, living only a couple of KM from Almoradi.

Thank you very much to all who replied, very helpful.  Going to spend some time in Almoradi before committing, but sounds like an interesting place.  Looking forward to visiting next month.

I would suggest www.spanishpropertyteam.com as they search for properties for you and save a lot of leg work.

Regarding flies my friend slices a lemon and puts 3 cloves in the slice of lemon on a saucer and seems to keep flies away.

I have also seen someone post that Almoradi is known as Morocco land!!!  So sad....as we have so much culture and history unlike some of the newly built Southern urbanisations where the Spanish flee.....and you can't even buy cigarettes as they have none of the Spanish run Tabacs.

What Almoradi has is a fabulous mix.  Mostly Spanish, and my word are they so lovely and friendly.  Then there are the Ex-Pats and we are catered for in may ways, but those who are most succesful, actually cater for Spanish & English, because they have bothered to integrate.  The North Africans are also friendly and helpful, they are poor ....and, their shops sell the most wonderful spices which Spaniards don't use, ie. for curries and tagines...and so cheap, better than trawling to that awful overpriced Iceland.  We live right bang smack in the middle of the town, it is noisy it is buzzy but most of all...it is SAFE!  Sadly the perpetrators of thefts etc. are mainly carried out by eastern Europeans!  NOT North Africans.urchm

Our town square which is beautiful is dominated by the Catholic Church, and there are so many local fiestas relating to it.  Then every Saturday the whole area is transformed into a wonderful street market - a proper one, with local fruit and

vegtables, some quite nice clothes and everything else you may want to buy.  Even when it rains heavily at least 2/3 veggie stalls will stay open for the Spanish ladies to buy their supplies.

As a Londoner it is a life I would never swap / here for good!
