You would still have to pay non-resident's tax annually if you own a property in Spain.  As far as the 90-day rule is concerned, I wouldn't hold my breath.  Even with this rule you can still spend half a year in Spain, just in 2 separate periods.  I don't see any likelihood of Spai...

Very true

I'll probably just bite the bullet and re buy and if family want to use it they will have to contribute when I've never done that in all the years I had property

I think probably tories will loose next election,  country needs change , with labour being left thinking , they will join customs union, and maybe schengen,  they like the European union,  they like the ideology of it. A lot of us voted brexit for change and maybe some benefits,  I think the working class people got sweet F,A.me personally got absolutely nothing , can think of 10 things I personally lost and gained nothing , even immigration is being abused 10 fold from our prime minister and his rich m8s.

You paid taxes in Spain for 20 years but don’t have residency? Can you not apply if you paid all those taxes ?

I don't think so because the pension from UK doesn't meet the requirements and I came back to UK before Brexit however, I will probably buy a place and just bite the bullet with the minimum stay because I need a base here in UK as my boys and grandchildren need to have me here some of the year but as I've said if I buy and family want to use they will have to contribute towards bills as in the past that was never asked

I love Spain hate UK but as many will know, when an emergency at home happens you need to be here x

I see your one of those trolls that jump on anything to do with UK.

I class your comments are rude and unhelpful. Don't bother replying to this, I'm not interested in anything you might have to say

Just note, that if money changes hands for use of your property, even if it is only to cover bills, then this becomes income and is liable for tax at 24% and may lead to having to get a "Tourist Licence", (not always possible), renters insurance etc

Pauline please remember that some people leave Spain because of family for myself it was because my child in the UK flat lined with a serious health issue which is why I returned to the UK

Also, many Brits put lots of cash into the Spanish system so I think you will find if all left Spain it would definitely have an impact

However, I just need to make a point that often reasons for return are unavoidable

I had a neighbour in Spain who lost her husband and as her health was failing she had to return to be close to family support

Hi there yes I'm aware of this as I lived Spain for 20 yrs however, if my sister, niece or kids visit that's different because they make a contribution towards what they use on utility not a rental and that's something I never had to ask previously but now as a pensioner I would expect if they spend a couple of weeks there then they pay for utilities and let's be honest family is not like using as air b and b

I would never rent to people because you have to consider neighbours and if I own a property no matter what country my family will always visit and always have keys because my home is their home x
