You would still have to pay non-resident's tax annually if you own a property in Spain.  As far as the 90-day rule is concerned, I wouldn't hold my breath.  Even with this rule you can still spend half a year in Spain, just in 2 separate periods.  I don't see any likelihood of Spai...

...n making a different rule for the British  - this would be discrimination against other 3rd country nationals.  There are plenty of EU and Schengen nationals buying property in Spain these days.  They more than compensate for any British people who have left Spain.

If your quote is correct why are the spanish pushing for the change. British people spend a lot of money and help with Spains economy, just because you like to look on the negative side of life don't bring that to a simple question from a pensioner who has paid her way in life just asking a simple question.

For your information I lived there previously for 20 yrs and paid tax

Now a pensioner I can't pay tax as my pension isn't enough to cover so before you place nasty messages on here get your facts in order

People like you should not be on these forums

So what's the words you give a pensioner who has paid for 20 yrs into the Spanish tax and had to return to UK for a seriously ill son who actually flat lined and life for him wasn't guaranteed?

Also paying tax for owning a property is expected but other taxes not

"Hi, is that the Spanish authorities..? Ah, good. Right...I quite like living in your country because it's sunny & there are beaches but the thing is, I don't really want to pay any tax because I've already paid some when I lived here previously."

"What's that...health care? Yes, of course I want to use your health care system - I'm old, lol!"

"Yes...I would quite like the bins near me emptied every night. It's a great system. Far better than England."

"Mending the roads..? What's that got to do with me?"

"It's the law..? But I've already paid some tax...and I'm British!"

"Hello..? Hello..? They've hung up, the cheeky Spanish sods. Oh well, I'll just carry on living under the radar like I did before..."

You really are an idiot

Don't make me out to be a tax dodger

For your information plonker I have health care cover

Oh and I didn't say I wanted to.live permanently in Spain again because sadly I can't due to family reasons and to set the record straight I have worked for 47 yrs of my life so a tax dodger I definitely am not

Thank you for the people who have helped me with their positive feedback and to those like you who are nasty, don't read what is written and come to your own conclusion I just hope you don't put people off for asking questions on this forum which is here to help people not post nasty unwanted and unwarranted negative remarks

You are literally stating that you don't want to pay any tax & are asking if anyone knows a way to facilitate this.

That is the very definition of tax-dodging.

This is a pensioner who has already said they paid tax previously in spain. They don't pay tax on there state pension in the UK, they are just saying they can't afford to lose money on tax now they are retired. I hope you read all the question not just being a keyboard warrior like most unhelpful people on here.

Stan, please notice the difference between tax evasion & tax avoidance. One is illegal. V

Oh god, not this again...

"I paid taxes there for 20 yrs and now I'm a pensioner so no don't want to pay taxes only those related to purchase etc"

Saying you don't want to pay *any* tax falls clearly in the "evasion" camp, not "avoidance."
