Lancelot, if you don't mind me asking, how much were you quoted for both of you (what was your age bracket as that seems to be a factor too).

thanks

Jill

We will both be between 51 and 55, Eur 883.85, at the point of being insured. It goes up to Eur 957.69 between ages 56 and 59.

If you PM me an email address I can send you the PDF which doesn't load on here or alternatively contact Gran Alacant - Alfonso speaks English :)

The policy reads okay and includes basic dental as appears to be common for the other policies I seen. History is taken into account and exclusions might apply again as is common.

Annual heath checkups tailored for male and female specific conditions as well as generic ones for both are included.

Hi Lancelot, we’ve had a quote last week from Alfonso, we didn’t mention any pre existing conditions and we’ll be 56 and 60 and we’ve been given a quote of almost 2000 euros for both of us!  That’s very different to what you’ve been quoted . Did Alfonso send you a price showing each name with a figure underneath it or was it a verbal quote ?

Thanks, Mags.

Hi Mags,

Lancelot's quote is for ages of 51 and 55.  The next age band is 56 to 59, so at age 56, your quote will be higher than his, but also 60 is the next age band, so that quote will be even higher again.

Kind regards,Kim

Hi Kimmy , I appreciate it to be a little more at 60 but it’s more than double Lancelots quote for 56 and 59 years.

Hi Mags,

When Lancelot quotes the figures, "We will both be between 51 and 55, Eur 883.85, at the point of being insured" I believe that figure is per person, i.e. Eu 1,767.70 for both of them.  Similarly, when he says that, "It goes up to Eur 957.69 between ages 56 and 59", that's an annual premium for both of them of Eu 1,915.38.  Given that your quote is for two people where one of you is already 60, your quote of almost Eu 2,000 for both of you seems about right to me.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Mags yes as Kimmy says your quote looks right for the reasons she gave :)

I will be 51 and my wife 55 when we insure and so we pay less than someone who is older. For two people at the lower age group ours is 2 x Eur 883.85 = Eur 1767.70

Your quote looks right.

Salus have a table of fixed costs based on age it would be on page 5 of the Salus Brochure pdf which is often emailed out to accompany quotes. This table is a living document and therefore subject to change.

For the "excellent" policy, which is the one we'd go for, for those between 60 and 65 yrs it increases to Eur 1188.46 per person but if necessary the golden source of truth would be the insurance company.

Apologies, I thought your quote was for both of you not per person .

Thanks.

JillS my quote of a few days ago from Asssa was the same as yours - its a fair bit higher than the one I got in July 2018 - so their prices must have gone up.

Have you asked Gran Alacant insurances for a quote - look at right of the page they have an advertiser banner. My understanding is that they resell for Salus - which is another healthcare insurance provider....

...

Also are you using someone to complete your residency papers/ book and attend the meeting, translate for you when the time comes? I have run the quotes I've had past the person I am using to see whether the product is suitable for residency applications and he is happy to represent it when the time comes.

Hi, can anyone advise on the same topic, private health insurer for my wife for our residency application this September (I am retired and have S1)

we also need help in our residency appointment this September, already have NIE,  6 months rental organised, and Bank account to do.

Have I missed anything else, any advise most welcome

Hi,

Is your wife a UK citizen?  If so, she should qualify for state healthcare in Spain as your dependant.  You can check your wife's eligibility with NHS Business Services (they took over responsibility for overseas healthcare from the DWP late last year).

Regarding your Residencia application, do you already have an appointment scheduled for September?  You'll need to be able to provide 3 months' bank statements from a Spanish bank, showing either €750 per month paid into the account, or a lump sum of €9,000.

Hopefully, a member living in your area can make a recommendation for a translator or gestor, if you need help with the residency application and appointment.

Kind regards,

Kim
