In the months after Brexit there were many debates on the forum about 90/180 restrictions.

In one dedate I pointed out that very few people will post on a Forum about their penalty for an overstay. Well now at least one has.

On a Facebook forum someone has detailed the length of their overstay and the fine they paid. I can't link to the FB page but I took a screenshot of the post which I've attached. €198 for 11 days.

What it tells us is that the system is now capable of highlighting overstay to immigration control at Borders.

The thing is the membership of both this and the Talk Quesada forums, and FB, represent but a minute subset of the number of Brits in Spain making it highly imrobable that we would get to hear about the numbers who do get pulled up for overstaying or what punishment is meted out to them.

Hi Bee, I don't think she mentioned which port it was.

Yes it's all a bit vague. Were they sailing from  Spain or France when this fine issued. I tend to take most of these supposed instances with agrain of salt.

It doesn't really matter where they were sailing from. And...I doubt very much that someone would share this information if it hadn't actually happened.

If you overstay and get fined I hope you'll have the courage to post it for us!

Here's a link to a page where this was mentioned

In case this didn't work, the miscreant in question added a copy of the page in their passport. Screenshot attached.

The entry in the Passport is a bit odd in that it doesn't say what the €198 is for.  There is an article on the fine in this link from French connexion.

Same as the one that you quoted, same amount, neither mention the reason for the fine. I suppose that there's no need to, the person fined knows what it's for and the computer record against the passport would also show it.

The cost of a visa for those requiring one is €99. The fine for overstaying the visa is twice that so €198. Makes me think this was someone with a visa as that fine has been in long before UK exited.
