If coming with a work permit, you will not need private medical cover as you will be paying social security which covers you for that but your employer must state that no EU citizen could carry out the work.

Best of luck but, yes, things have certainly changed since Brexit.

Can I come over and look for a job or do I need to have a job before I come over?

With Brexit are you still permitted to stay year in Year out or do you need to leave the country for a period of time then return?

You need to have job offer in order to apply for a visa, which must be done in the UK. I don't think there would be anything stopping you coming on holiday and looking for a job but you cannot apply for the visa in Spain. tebo53 has already explained (see above) that jobs must be offered to Spainish and EU/EEA nationals first.

You can only stay for a maximum of 90 days in any 180 day period.

No, you cannot stay "year in, year out". Your passport will be stamped on arrival and you can only stay a maximum of 90 days (in the whole Schengen area) in a rolling 180 days limit. You must then leave Spain for a minimum of 90 days before you can return.

Susan,

Here is a 90/180 calculator which also explains how the 90/180 works.

Yes, you can look for work (with contract) while you are on holiday but everything else must be done from the UK Spanish consulate.

Does the 90 day stay apply to brits already staying there too

You don't know how this works, do you? The Brits staying there have taken out residency. That means they are legally resident in Spain. There are still some "living under the radar" but if they ever leave Spain they could be fined very heavily or banned from reentering the country. Those living in Spain before UK left the EU were given the right to apply to become residents. That ended from Jan 2021.

The 90 days limit applies to anyone who is not an official, that is legal, resident in Spain. To become a resident you need to get a visa in UK which allows you to enter Spain and apply for residency in the province you are going to live in.

If you come to Spain your passport will be stamped with the date you entered. If you exceed 90 days in 180 you could face the same fines and even be banned from entering Spain for some time.

Not sure if you're just trying to wind people up with some of these questions or whether you really don't know the system and haven't read the many links you've been sent which explains it all.

There is no such thing as a "wishful thinking" visa.

Hello Susan

You obviously don't understand the information already sent to you or haven't read the contents in any links. I suggest you read the information in this link as it explains everything in simple terms:

https://www.immigrationspain.es/en/spanish-residency-for-uk-citizens/

The Brits who are already living in Spain must have obtained residency before the UK left the European Union or applied under the terms of the Withdrawl Agreement between the UK and the European Union which is no longer an option.

The following link will take you to the UK Government website which also explains what UK citizens need to do if they want to live and work in Spain:

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/travel-to-spain-for-work

Please read the information contained in all the links provided and this should explain everything to you.

You must tell us where you live now and what passport you hold. Are you retiring or wanting to work. etc, etc.........

To retire here you will need an income of around €28800 per annum for the non lucrative visa.

Hi Steve.this might sound like a daft question.im 56 and retired last yr.i have my works pension of  £1100 month.if i wanted to move to spain.ive read you need about £2000 monthly income. With my savings and house sale money...is that included in "monthly income" or does it mean £2000 regular income.

Would i have to put £2000 a month into a spanish bank account from my uk bank

Many thanks.marg
