We are slightly different my partner is Spanish and we have moved to his house here in Galicia we realise up here is cold in winter so plan to stay in benidorm area Jan and Feb driving down as we have brought our dog,so very lucky really as his house is lovely with lots of land,I have rented my house back home to some lovely people who were dying to move back to our village they are on benefits as not well but can't get council flat he has a motabilty van so that has worked out really well,my partner had a house near London that we used to live in before we moved back near my parents near Chester so having rented it he sold it and we just bought another in Chester so we both have rent coming in mine would be hard to sell as it's a concrete clad house .I've left my mum and dad with an Alexa show which is great I can see them all the time and the tenants in my house are really lovely and take them homemade food and visit for a chat! I'll try and go home twice a year,Luis was going to put house money in bank but knows it would slowly disappear,I've got accounts with Halifax and HSBC who have a wonderful global account which is just perfect! As u say the paperwork can be challenging and every province has own rules at moment it's Luis paperwork that's holding us back as he has grown up children living in UK and his wife died years ago they want all that paperwork just for padron! It'll get sorted in the end I totally didn't expect to be in holiday mode as here is very rural but we are getting on chopping logs and setting up allotment, beach is nearby so that's good and we are not night people so no staying out till 3am like his brother! I find food expensive here but meat is such good quality and since everything else is cheaper like electric , council tax it evens out😁

4 years ago my partner and I sold everything in the UK to move to Benidorm. We were both in the lucky position to take early retirement. We have never looked back, enjoying every minute even throughout the pandemic bearing in mind the lockdowns here were more restrictive than the UK - no time out here to exercise! Remember, this life isn't a dress rehearsal it's the real thing. Go do it!

Aren't the money requirements double or three-fold when you have to renew the NLV after 1 year?
Something to think about.

That's a misreading of the requirements. You need 4 x IPREM for the first year first applicant which is 28,800 euro. After the first year, people are reading it that you need double that for the next 2 years or 57,600 which is not quite right. You have to show that you will get 57,600 over a period of 2 years so still 28,800 per year. Same at the 3 year point.
We sold up in UK 2001, worked in Spain till 18 months ago, not one regret. One of the good points is we can get a doctors apointment within days, never had a problem. We live close to Quesada.

Hi
We moved to Spain a year ago. Keept our house in UK and let out for app 2000 euros a month and rented here for around 700 euros. Best of both worlds.
No probleme if we want to return.
We also have an added income of around 1300 eures per month. If we want to move to a different area no problem and little expense.
Did not see any advantage of paying to sell and paying to buy.

I'm sorry and I don't want to appear rude, but you didn't really move you've kept your options open in the event of 'things' going wrong. In my opinion one only 'moves' if they burn all their bridges behind them.

Well I still have my house rented out in Wales it's my income but have moved with dog and Spanish partner to his house in Spain no harm keeping income going at home ,no decent interest accounts here either so long as I get paperwork sorted I'll be a resident fingers crossed x
