Remember this was Hartlepool the town that hung a monkey thinking it was a German spy. By the way ,they thought it was a French spy ,but talk about Hobsons choice Sturgeon or Johnson ,is it any wonder people get dissalusioned with politics

Let me guess, election did not go the way you wanted? Try googling the story of the Hartlepool monkey so that you can get the story right.

Enjoy your weekend.

Are you sure the working class of the north have voted ,I think what has happened here Hartlepool voted majority to leave EU ,Keir Starmer was one of the mps who thought they knew better than the vote and tried his utmost for another referendum  ,I think it was pay back time

Also I think we have a culture  now that people dont believe the white and blue collar system of course the blue collar workers were found in manufacturing in the main which is practically non existent now ,also many have adopted the tory philosophy of greed is good rather than looking for a...

... fairer society .If a buffoon  like Johnson can pull the wool over the population 's eyes ,sorry not much good to say of the population

For a buffoon Johnson has done a pretty good job of running rings around the EU and the Labour party, imagine what he could do if he was not a buffoon. Good luck with Nicola.

Why is it that so many people fail to understand that, as patriots, we have the right - and the duty - to hold our governments to account?

"The difference between patriotism and nationalism is that the patriot is proud of his country for what it does, and the nationalist is proud of his country no matter what it does; the first attitude creates a feeling of responsibility, but the second a feeling of blind arrogance, that leads to war."

Sydney J. Harris

Thankfully, BoJo has pulled back from his Churchillian delusions and withdrawn the Royal Navy ships from the coast of Jersey.

Personally, I'm pleased that the UK has put Spain on the Amber list.  I'm sorry to say this, primarily because of the many second-home owners on here who I know are desperate to get to their holiday homes.  But the nationalists should be questioning why the much-lauded UK/India trade deal includes freedom of movement - FOM was one of the two main campaigns on which Brexiteers fought against continued membership of the EU.  The nationalists should also ask themselves why the Indian variant of Covid-19 has arrived in the UK - the longer Spain stays on the UK's Amber list, the less likely we are to get the Indian variant transmitted to Spain.  While the nationalists are so keen to repeatedly tell us how much better the UK has done than Spain in vaccinating their respective populations (while conveniently forgetting the UK's 130,000 Covid-19 deaths), surely they understand the irony that the UK putting Spain on the Amber list is actually protecting US from UK transmitted variants?

The election went exactly as I knew it would. Whether the monkey was a french  or German spy matters little, my point being naive and easily influenced, poorly educated people can be bought and promised all sorts. And... before you take me to task on that, my partner is a teacher in this area and knows the educational attainment is poor . I work in the criminal justice system in the area and I’ve seen the results of successive governments failures and what many will do to survive. Do you honestly believe that a generation with few or no educational qualifications has the insight to make informed decisions on economics, funding, climate, imports/exports, taxation, education, health, demographics, infrastructure etc ? The majority are only interested when Wetherspoons are open and if they can order a Greggs from Just Eat. I’m not really criticising the locals I’m merely outlining the situation as it is and I can take you to any coastal town in the country and show you the same. Yarmouth, Blackpool, Hastings, Margate, Jaywick Nr. Clacton , dozens of forgotten towns and not all in red wall areas either.

Morning  Aitch it's now evident that depending on the area of UK you live in is what you vote .If you're a Labour supporter Wales is the place for you ,Conservative is England and SNP.is Scotland and I dont see that changing anytime soon, which I think will mean the breakup of UK in the not too distant future ,its always been the case that England decides the UK government and this is all too clear now ,I think people in Wales and Scotland  will be disillusioned with a Tory government they did not select .On the subject of Boris  Johnson  ,he is an out and out liar ,and is only interested in himself ,I think the cabinet of a party tells you much about its leader,il give.you 3 examples of inept clueless politicians  but there are many more. Matt PPE disaster Hancock  ,G avin Frank Spencer Williamson ,and Therese Not a clue Coffey ,these wereselected by Johnson certainly not on ability maybe he saw in them something  of himself  .Now I wont.believe that a.Sly divisive liar like Johnson didnt know the wage structure he was going into when he went for leader of Tory party and PM position and then complains that £155000 is not enough to afford childcare ,I suggest he does what thousands of people have to do and juggle 2 parent working with childcare

The Indian variant most likely arrived in the UK via the UK residents that are of Indian hertitage returning here following trips to visit relatives. It is inevitable that the strain will reach Europe, there is a large Indian population in most European countries. I hope the current vaccines provide protection but in any event the tardy roll out of vaccines in the EU leaves the majority of countries exposed.

The UK now has the ability to do deals with any country so it is not a worry or concern that they have a deal with India.

I understand the UK will review the travel list every 3 weeks and if the Spanish numbers have dropped sufficiently by then Spain will be added I am sure. On the other hand Spain have not altered their restrictions on UK citizens entering, or not that I have seen, so what the UK does is irrelevant at the moment.

This forum is in Spain and is not a U.K. political showcase, we are all entitled to our own political views but please refrain from using them here or many like me will seriously consider ditching it.

That is of course your right to leave or stay ,but I fail to see how you feel it's your right to decide what is discussed  on here .I dont know your status whether you are resident or not ,if you  are your agenda would be different to the 2nd home owners ,governments in UK have a large.say.at.the moment what we do ,I certainly dont like government intervention in every aspect of my life ,I'm paying the Bill's for my 2nd home in Spain  not Spanish or UK governments  so I think I've every.right to criticize governments
