You have a very elitist attitude. If the poor, ill-educated people can easily be bought with a few promises how come they did not vote for Corbyn at the last general election, when he and Mcdonnell were promising them the earth? You say your post is not really criticising  local people, I wo...

...uld hate to see what you would write if you were being critical.

Do you not think the demonization of Corbyn in the press and on TV may have had something to do with it?

If you think Johnson had it rough for a few days it is nothing to the barrage that went Corbyn's way, every day for years. Mainly because he spoke to Hamas and the IRA 40+ years ago. We see little mention of Johnson and his taking money off Russian oligarchs for example. They must be really trustworthy types!

In case you think I am a Corbyn fan I am not, but I don't trust Johnson either.

Point is the vitriol was/is unequal in the press.

Yes read this today. Current plan is that from May 17th it's no longer illegal to travel overseas from the UK but Spain likely to be Amber until reviewed again late June.

It's not looking good for our daughter coming over in mid to late June as although she will be fully vaccinated she won't want to quarantine or fork out for the tests she is likely to need once back in the UK....

...

We would pay the cost of the tests but she still won't quarantine as she found it hard last July when she flew back to the UK after joining us for a few weeks when we moved over.

Probably not going to change much until vaccination rates/ %'s increase over here.

A quick update on traffic lights system. Unfortunately Spain did not get on to green list but the concensus is they will be put on green list on there next review on 28th of May. We just hope now that Spain opens up on June 1st or before.

I’m not a Corbyn fan either, or particularly a fan of the current Labour Party or its leadership. However isn’t it ironic that the policies that the Tories and right wing press put the fear of god into everyone before the last general election are pretty much what the P of the USA are enacting now. Socially democratic policies that will level up the gross injustices on poverty and health which is what Corbyn was advocating along with huge state funded projects to get folks back into work. The US are going to spend trillions to do what Labour under Corbyn was going to do. So the biggest capitalist economy on the face of the earth has overthrown populism, got rid of their buffoon, and set a course on social reforms. Whatever happens in the US you can just about guarantee will .....

... unless the UK breaks up first. It will be one scenario or the other.

Just heard Corbyn on the radio saying how Johnson has nicked his big spending plans, which as you say, were pilloried at the time of the 2019 election as being unaffordable. As demonstrated in certain parts of the UK where the Tories were rejected, people are clearly aware of Johnson's antics, just needs the penny to drop with a few more.

On a brighter note, I did a search about vaccine progress in Spain. Out of 45M pop, 6M have had 2 jabs and 7M a first jab. Another chart showed 350,000 jabs per day are being given currently. Very promising.

I'm not sure that Spain will make it onto the green list in May but more important is that they (Spain) open access to UK citizens. I think second home owners have enough reasons to leave the UK as the rules stand now but getting into Spain is a different matter. At least the vaccination program now seems to be ramping up, which will help reduce infections and improve the figures.

According to The Telegraph Spain, along with France, Greece and Italy are unlikely to go on the Green list at the next review.

I dont think anyone can confidently predict what is going to happen in future ,I'm sitting here watching Sky News ,interview with Matt Hancock  ,it does not matter what government minister appears they all adopt the same policy ,dont answer any relevant questions and tell the public nothing  ,I think people will have to gamble on travelling, if they really wish to travel they will

Nobody can say with cetainty what will be decided but, if you look at the current infection rates you can see that the rate in Spain is still way ahead of the rates in the UK, the current green list countries and the rates of those expected to go on the list next time.

I suspect that it will be another couple of months before Spain makes the list.

Because it appears they want any spending to be done in ‘England PLC’ as the taxes raised are seen as vital to replenish the exchequer. Which is why all the tv advertising is related to staycations, all the tv programming is about building holiday hideAways or walks in the dales, Freeports to be instigated, move international sporting events to the UK where possible, make border crossings a game of snakes and ladders. Welcome to HMP Pontins, HMP Butlins and HMP Hoseasons, you’ve got your electronic tag on your test and trace or NHS app , community service (voluntary work) will be introduced to harvest crops this autumn, you don’t need to consider ‘foreign’ climes - so sit back and think of England - “Your country Needs You! “ 😂😂😂

Spain's infection rates are dropping and as more people are vaccinated that should continue. From a second home owner point of view the question is when will Spain relax the entry rules on UK citizens coming into the country. Hopefully this happens at the end of May to allow entry. I've still got my flights booked for mid- June!
