Get an appointment with the Spanish Consulate in London to get your NIE number, or this can be done at a Police Station in Benidorm, as it allows you to work and let's the Government know that you are living in Benidorm, so they know about what taxes you have paid! It'slike an NI number in the UK...

...! The next thing to do is buy a property if you don't already have one, once you are living in Benidorm apply for Residency, this will all be explained to you over time! You can stay for 90 days out of 180 if you are a UK citizen, but you have to go home after that! The situation has got more complicated since the UK left the EU!! It's their own fault luckily I have duel Nationality Irish and British, but I only use my Irish in Europe as Ireland are still part of the EU!!!

That is incorrect information Jack. Amanda is a uk citizen. As a uk citizen she needs to apply to the Spanish embassy while she is in the UK. She will need to apply for a visa. She will not be allowed to work in Spain without getting legal residency. To get residency she will need to prove that she has the requirements needed for income and healthcare.
As you are an Irish citizen the Brexit rules do not apply to you and Irish citizens can carry on with residency requirements as before it is now different and difficult for uk citizens.
Amanda should contact the Spanish embassy in the UK for further details.

It also depends on her parents and grandparents who may have been Irish, or even from Europe, therefore she could get an Irish, or a European Country Passport where they came from, Steve!!
Ways round everything!!!

Amanda........
Just for clarity, do you have an Irish passport, Irish relatives or Irish or European descendants?
If none of the above then you have to comply with the new residency application rules and the 90/180 visiting rules.

Hi Amanda,
If you want to live here in Benidorm permanently with your family you need to apply for residency by applying to the Spanish embassy ( London or Manchester) while you are still living in the UK. You will need to demonstrate that you can meet the requirements for your income and healthcare.
There are several different types of visa and depending on what you want to do will dictate the type of Visa you will need.
You cannot come to Spain and look for work without a visa that allows you to do that otherwise you will be working illegally.
You can visit Spain (when its allowed) fo holidays but you will be limited to 90 days maximum stay within a 180 day period. You can still purchase a holiday home here, no problem.
If you want to buy or start a business here there are many, many hoops to jump through and can prove to be very expensive.
Read all you can here

If you do make it here I'll buy you several drinks!!
