Hi Amanda,

If you want to live here in Benidorm permanently with your family you need to apply for residency by applying to the Spanish embassy ( London or Manchester) while you are still living in the UK. You will need to demonstrate that you can meet the requirements for your income and healthcare. ...

...

There are several different types of visa and depending on what you want to do will dictate the type of Visa you will need.

You cannot come to Spain and look for work without a visa that allows you to do that otherwise you will be working illegally.

You can visit Spain (when its allowed) fo holidays but you will be limited to 90 days maximum stay within a 180 day period. You can still purchase a holiday home here, no problem.

If you want to buy or start a business here there are many, many hoops to jump through and can prove to be very expensive.

Read all you can here

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/living-in-spain#what-you-should-do

If you do make it here I'll buy you several drinks!!

Oh gosh I really really hope we make it!! Seems like quite a difficult process! :( harder than I thought anyway xx

Yea now UK left the EU its no longer easy to just up and leave, unless you earn good money in the UK then you're kind of restricted to where you can live which is shame

But tbh, is it worth all the hassle for benidorm? There are so many other places in spain and the world.

Benidorm is a very good place to live.....

Benidorm has some beautiful areas away from the club area and many Spanish nationals still live here. Don't take everything you see on TV as gospel.

Amanda,  the income requirements for residency are around €27,000 for the first person and €6,200 for each additional person per annum. You will need full private healthcare cover paid for a full year for each member of the family.

You missed my point. For the amount its going to cost to move to benidorm, wait at least a year to maybe get residency and turns out they may not actually find its as good as they hoped, the same amount or less you can go to so many places in the world, now UK isnt part of europe anymore its common sense that less people are going to move to Europe. For example my cousins just come back from Australia it cost only 20k and its amazing down there, same with New Zealand and we have a family friend who moved to Chicago with alot less requirements than spain.

Get an appointment with the Spanish Consulate in London to get your NIE number, or this can be done at a Police Station in Benidorm, as it allows you to work and let's the Government know that you are living in Benidorm, so they know about what taxes you have paid! It'slike an NI number in the UK...

...! The next thing to do is buy a property if you don't already have one, once you are living in Benidorm apply for Residency, this will all be explained to you over time! You can stay for 90 days out of 180 if you are a UK citizen, but you have to go home after that! The situation has got more complicated since the UK left the EU!! It's their own fault luckily I have duel Nationality Irish and British, but I only use my Irish in Europe as Ireland are still part of the EU!!!

Jack

Hi Jack, l have an Irish passport but live in the UK. Im 70 but if l move to Benidorm would l qualify for Spanish (NHS) health care or would l need to have private insurance? I have no health issues at the moment. Many regards, Seamus.

look on Thinkspain for properties, i was going to move to Benidorm but decided that it would be to full on and noisy, i opted for looking just outside where its a bit quieter, my advice would be to rent for a year before deciding on a place, and never use the solicitor the estate agent recommends use a totally independent one. good luck
