Hi Jrmj
I have a second home in Moraira; very close to Benissa
I’m unclear from your post if you know Benissa well, or not at all. It’s more or less mid way between Moraira and Calpe and is a very traditional, small Spanish town. It’s well served by supermarkets; Consum, Mercadona, Aldi, Overseas supermarket. I always feel it has a nice vibe to it and I understand there’s usually something going on. It also has a micro brewery, something that we’ll be trying as soon as we get back 😉
The road winds down to Benissa costa through lovely countryside. The villas are generally quite high end and well spaced
I’ve never heard that it is subject to more crime or break - ins than any other areas. I would say that you’d need to take reasonable measures to secure your property, as you would anywhere.
I think heat and humidity’s a problem, wherever you are (possibly not the mountains) in Spain during July and August. Many Brits, if they are able, depart for cooler shores during these months
You obviously have an advantage, as your husband is Spanish. Enjoy your search. This is, in my opinion, a lovely part of Spain 🤪🥂
