To Steve...as long as the house has same circuit sockets? We found that our house had separate circuits, probably due to an extension, so this solution although preferable, didn't work for us.

Yes it can be a pain, you could put in the router to socket adaptor ,which puts signal into wiring, find out where one circuit ends and the othe starts, put a repeater into last socket nearest to the second circuit, put an ethernet cable into this so that the ethernet continues router circuit and plug this ethernet into an identical repeater in the second circuit and the ethernet signal should enter the second circuit. It should work!
Or get a long ethernet cable from router to an ethernet switch in the house extension and radiate from there repeaters or cables, trial and error ,one will work ,nothibg wasted as you can always use all of these as and when you devise another pkan!

All good advice...and you can never have enough cat5 cables ;-)
We did overcome the same and it does work with a combo of repeaters, cat5 out of them and a switch or hub. Fun to be had. Panto season, 'can you see me now'.
Try it, nothing lost.
Now I need to figure how to get a signal or connection down to the tractor shed / read new art room. Could get messy.
