According to local press about half of hotels in the Balearics have already decided not to re-open until next year and on the mainland September seems to be the earliest to be considered. It will also depend on where you are coming from as if your country of origin is still in the grip of the virus then only essential travel will be allowed.

You also need to understand if the UK government have any travel restrictions still in place. If the government recommends no travel to Spain it is unlikely that you will be able to have valid travel insurance, and may not be allowed back in.

Well let's wait until an official announcement from someone in authority is made

Many thanks to all of you that replied and yes I too fear that this dreadful virus is going to have far reaching consequences and I think tourism will be one of the worst affected sectors many people are going to lose family members friends jobs and homes it’s so sad. I also feel whenever we are allowed back to Spain I’m not sure it’s going to be the same especially some of the bars and restaurants we have been going to for the last 5 years I hope to god they can survive as I think calp/calpe is the most beautiful place to be we only discovered it 5 years ago but hopefully we will get to visit many more times in the future. Please all stay safe and stay strong.
