Hello All

Apologies In advance if this is a dumb question.

I have 2 friends that intend to move from Ireland to Spain.  Initially they will be looking after a friends house for the first yearand then maybe rent somewhere for the second year.

They will not be earning money and both have retired early and will not be looking to claim anything as they are both financially independent. They are looking to simply enjoy Spanish life, Culture food and experience the beautiful country and area of Calpe.

Do they have to take out private medical insurance? They intend to pop home for dental and non urgent medical reasons.

Do they need to register their intent of living in Spain for up to 2years.

Please be so kind to share anything else you think they need to know.

They seem to think because they are from Southern Ireland and they are still in the EU that they don’t have to do anything but rock up and enjoy life. If only!

Thank you so much

Your response is extremely informative and helpful exactly the guidance they needed.

Is it simple to open a bank account in Spain?

Thank you ever so much.

You can open a non residents bank account easily by going Into a bank of your choice with passport, a utility bill from your UK address and a few euros.
