The air con has gone on our Skoda car. In the UK, there are travelling mechanics who'll turn up in their van and simply change the canister. Quick and cheap.
Are there similar mechanics near Castalla, or anywhere in central Alicante province please? Or do I have to go to a garage?
Any suggestions'd be really helpful,

If its suddenly 'gone' then it's highly unlikely to be the gas, more likely something has broken, possibly the clutch on the compressor.

Simply changing the canister is not fixing the problem, when don’t you take it to a c go stage and get it looked at and properly repaired?

A/C doesn’t just go unless catastrophic failure. If it’s been on its way out for a while you’ll have a leak and what’s a canister? Gas comes in liquid form in a bottle. As previous respondent said go and see Andy in Castalla. Lovely chap and will help you.
Definitely give Andy at castalla cars in the town a visit.
He is a great mechanic and he can diagnose the problem for you.
