Does anyone know if the rules have changed since Brexit with regards to owning and driving a Spanish car in Spain as a non-resident ?
We have read on brexit forums that the only way UK licence holders can drive in Spain is if they hire a car - therefore any holiday home owners with their own cars, would not legally be able to drive their own spanish registered vehicles.
Is this correct ?

As a non-resident you cannot register a vehicle.

Is this correct ?
I asked this question of Trafico on behalf of an English friend, I told them that she owns house here and a Spanish registered car and comes here for holidays. It says "If she is a tourist she can drive in Spain with her English license, however, if asked to she must prove that she lives in the UK.
Here's the reply:
Buenos días,
si tiene la condición de turista puede conducir en España con su permiso inglés, no obstante deberá acreditar, si se lo solicitan, que reside en el Reino Unido.

Thank you Myra2020, that is very helpful and puts our minds at rest as i am sure it will for many people.
Having to prove you are a UK resident makes perfect sense.
I asked the insurance company but they didnt have a clue !
