We have had a house for two years, and had a Sabadel account as well as a Wise account, we to got fed up with bank charges and closed our Sabadel down about 5 weeks ago, we went to avatel office and changed our DD there then ibrodrola office and did the electric DD also suma and water, all accepted the Wise iban no problems at all… what a relief, now we have free banking and no rude bank staff to bother with.
We thought it would be difficult but it really wasn’t

Thank you Ferdi,
Avatal has accepted it, I shall go to arrange the Ibedrola and Hidraqua. WISE told me if my Belgian iban is short just write 0000s and it will be ok.

You've using the wrong type of account.. Wise is for switching currencies and used as a transfer from one account to another.. I too have a wise account but also have a N26.com account.. Absolutely brilliant, can't fault them, I am using for DD for Suma, Water, Electric.. As long as you have a spanish tax number you can open an account (Since Brexit the UK cannot open an account)... The company is based in Berlin and you get a spanish IBAN number

I work in The Netherlands, Germany, Lumembourg and Belgium with colleagues. We use wise for currency exchange and transfer but N26.com for the account. If Wide works for you then fine.. Just giving others my own exerience of accounts..

Hi W1llt33,
There are many members using and recommending the Wise Multi-Currency Account (formerly the Borderless Account) for this purpose, with no need for another account, so I don't understand why you would say it's the "wrong" account? 🤔 N26 is an alternative, as are Monzo and Revolut for example, but it isn't necessary for non-residents to have an additional account alongside Wise.

W1ll3tt Wise is not solely used for currency exchanges. I have a Wise account and have DD's with Suma, Hidragua, Ibedrola, Avatel and others. Wise has a Belgian Iban number. In the EU any bank accepted by the EU (or with EU Iban no) is accepted throughout the EU.
