Hello everyone,

I am resident in Spain and own a Spanish registered vehicle, which we have driven through France and am presently in England. Driving from the channel tunnel towards the west there were literally 100’s of speed cameras on the M20 motorway.

My question is, if the Spanish vehicle I was driving had inadvertently been photographed by a speed camera on the motorway. Does the U.K. authorities pursue traffic speeding fines to Spain - AFTER BREXIT?

I do not know if I have broken any speed limits as yet, however due to the abundance of speed cameras in Britain and driving a km/h Spain registered vehicle very difficult to access if I had gone over the speed limit.

Short answer is Yes. The recent agreement on driving licence exchanges was made possible once the agreement to share vehicle and driver details was sorted out.

Same as with hiring a car. The car hire company can give your details to the DVLA (or whatever they are nowadays) and will be chased up.

Several posts elsewhere where drivers have received fines in the post after returning to Spain. Seems a German company has been set up to chase the fines.

Thank you all for your assistance and information on this subject. I will have to now be extra careful.

Goldandrina,

of course your absolutely right, everyone knows this but many ignore it? certainly the the poster above zooming around Europe hoovering up speeding tickets is not taking too much notice.

In general police in the UK make an allowance of 10% above the posted speed limit for "speedometer variances", though not always. Not sure if this is the same in Spain.

Aitch.
