Hi everyone,

This is my first post, so please do excuse anything that might sound a bit obvious.

My wife and I have just bought a house about half way between Cocentaina and Benimarfull. It's just on the side of an actual road (which doesn't seem to have a name)
We have an address on our deeds, but it seems the address isn't recognised by any company we want to deliver anything.

If we're unable to have things posted/couriered to us, that's fine. But what do we do from here?

I've read a previous post about getting a PO box, but I have a few questions.

Can I get a PO box online, while still here in the UK, or do I have to go there in person?
Can anyone recommend a particular PO place please?
Is there one in Benimarfull?
Here's the bit that might sound a bit stupid but... If I buy a PO box, is it done on size? What I mean here is, is the box effectively an address? If I buy something big online will it just be delivered to the office or does it have to go/fit in the box?

If any of you lovely people have any other advice, it will be greatly welcomed.

Thanks,

Jamie and Laura

Lisa Anne

Although we do not live in your area we too live in a Campo, rural area with no street name.

In the beginning we struggled getting anything delivered. Actually, had things delivered to new friends...

Now what we do is to go overboard with directions so that we get our packages, etc. delivered. We always give our phone number so the delivery person can call us.

Sometimes we just go to the local market and meet them there.

All that I wrote has to do with whether or not you live in Spain.....

But if you are in the UK then it is best to have a P.O. box... you pay for the box on a monthly basis and anything large arrives then the place where you box is holds it for you.

Pretty easy actually...

Hi Lisa,

Thank you for your helpful reply.

I’ll be back there in Jan to finish off the bit of decorating I’ve been doing, then we hope to move as soon as the digital nomad visa is released. Honestly, we cannot wait! We were hoping to not have to endure another Newcastle winter, but there we are.

I think I’ll have to work out where to get a PO Box when I’m there next as we will need things like a 5G router to be there and ready to go for when we move.

A couple of websites that may be of help to you are as follows:

Citizens Advice Bureau Spain for bureaucratic stuff, and

N332 for anything to do with driving in Spain.   This site, and their Facebook page, are for English speaking people and the website has an English version of the Spanish equivalent of the Highway Code on it.

Regarding deliveries, some post offices (Correos) have post boxes for which you pay a monthly rental charge.   Sorry but I don't know the area in which you have your property so I cannot advise on any place that does such things.

We have a post box, Apartado de Correos, in a nearby village. It costs us around 70 euros per annum, it is not a monthly rental. Anything too big, a note is put in box and you go to counter armed with all your official ID although in practice you can just tell them your NIE number, and collect it, you have two weeks.

We also have a Buzon which one obtains from the Ajuntamiento at a flat cost of 100 eu. Buzóns are banks of green post boxes distributed around the local areas in places where Correos won’t go to individual properties.

Thank you for your reply.

I’ll try and sort this next time I’m out there in Jan.

Thanks,

Jamie
