Hi planning on coming over on the end fo August but worry about not being able to get insurance so if we fall ill will we be treated by doctors will we have to pay coming from England thanks Tommy

Battleface are allegedly providing corona cover if you are aged under 59

Not sure how reliable it is? You would need to check the wording of the contract. However, it is expensive deliberately due to the FCO advice about not travelling to Spain and you would Have to check it’s right for you

We came in the end so thank you - here are my thoughts which might help anyone else coming here:

- Stansted airport was empty, it took less than 15 mins to get though security and we didn’t bother with fast track

- Most of the shops at Stansted were open but not very busy

- Our flight was half full so lots of space and empty seats but masks worn throughout the flight

- You have to wear a mask everywhere once you get to Murcia and my view is there are much stricter in Spain than in the UK. You can’t wear bandana ones, then need to be proper ones that cover your nose. It’s enforced by Guardia Civil which is great, as well as shopkeepers and if it falls down they have no hesitation to tell you. Quite hot as not used to doing this in the UK but glad they are enforcing it and not complaining, just stating the difference between the UK where people are not doing this.

- Didn’t need to book a beach where we are but it is packed but this might be different where u are

- Most restaurants have QP codes for menus

- For the swimming pool where we are there is a maximum number allowed in the pool in a day, and we wear masks before we get there, and breathe once we swim

- Zenia is open but social distancing in place and very safe

- We use the taxi costa app for the taxi booking which you can do on your phone and it works

Hope that is useful

thanks Ren

Hi REN

We have literally flown back today from Villamartin

Sanitiser available at the entrance to all shops/ bars and restaurants, mask on at ALL times unless on the beach ( busy but social distance) around communal pool ( numbers limited and taped off entrance ladders) or sitting down in bar/restaurant

Xenia Boulevard is open, again snorers everywhere & masks on

Quieter than normal so no issues booking in advance for restaurants. Will just have to wait to be seated as they will spray and sanitise chair & table. No menus usualled on a WR app or they will give you a paper version that can be thrown away after.

When arrive at Alicante no difference just mask on, but they may not allow pick up outside

Hope that helps

Kind regards, take care

Gail

It feels safer there than uk, large majority of people are being good distancing.

"It feels safer there than uk, large majority of people are being good distancing"

Isn't feeling safer and being safer two different things ?

I "feel safe" where I am but don't know if I am really.

A lot of old people are getting it here and they are not out in the streets partying it up and hitting the bars.

I would like to come to my house in Spain and go to the UK to visit wouldn't feel safe in any place more or less than another, it's all in the mind.

Spot on we are from the Uk and have been in Spain since the lockdown in Torre de la Horadada very very busy now loads of teenagers not wearing face masks.

Up until late June we felt safe as houses but not now loads of people have traveled from all over Spain and some not all just don’t get this virus like all nationalities you get good and bad....

...

We have family in the north east of England and they say most of the time they feel very safe.

I find some people on this forum are very anti British quite sad really as I said above all nationalities have idiots who just don’t get it.

If I had young children I personally just would not travel on a aeroplane at this moment in time.

Hi, you, ve stated you have been here since lockdown began so I am assuming if well before that you must have reached your 183 days in Spain. We arrived on 12th March and due to go home on 9th September which is our 182nd day. How are you considering the 183 days for fiscal residency then.? Are you bothered or have you consulted a gestor as the Spanish tax has stated they will not disregard the days of lockdown in their computed figures.? We have ferry booking to return on 9th but now Britanny Ferries are cancelling bookings in September since France was added to quarantine and its worrying us.

We are applying for residency hopefully will not take to long as we have retired early.

We also have a ferry booked for early December as we want to spend Xmas in the Uk.

We will be fiscal residence as we intend to spend at least 9 months in Spain.

Cheers

Thanks In for reply, did consider you might be applying for residency, but as you had said "we are from UK" wasn't sure if it meant returning to UK as UK resident. Are you still keeping on a UK home? We,d love to do same but still have our UK home(lived 40yrs) can't afford to lose out on CGT and hubby won't rent out. We also have 2 UK cars and van which couldn't own or drive on Spanish licence so few too many obstacles. Good luck with your future plans

If your husband refuses to rent your house out, you can lock the door and come back to stay in it during the intense heat in the summer. I think he is very wise to keep his home as nobody knows what the future holds and you would always have your home waiting for you. vehicles are easier to dispose of and you could leave one in the garage for your visits and sell the other two.

We bought a house in Torrevieja almost 19 years ago and love it but I would not sell our home here. Circumstances change! We enjoy both homes. We have a static home on the north coast of Ireland which we rarely used over the past years. So glad we didn’t sell it as we have been staying in it since permitted back at the end of June and living every minute of it.

Hi Grannyrose

We thankfully don't need to sell our UK home at present but as you said, circumstances do change. We outright own 3 houses, 1 UK rented out, ours and Spain. It isn't the having UK home that stops us, but we need to spend time to refurbish it to get it ready for sale or even rent out. Its mostly vehicles, my UK home is full of items to bring to Spain, but Spanish driving licence forbids me driving in Spain our UK van, or owning and insuring a UK vehicle(must be UK resident). Already researched this with insurance Co, s. You make it sound so simple, it's not! S1 got for Spain but then no UK health service to use, medications free in UK now and Dr allowing 3 months supply to bring to Spain, 1 of 4 of mine just cost 73€ month supply. (Just had to buy some) . In UK don't know we could even buy them if S1 has been used in Spain. As said before, too many obstacles.

Regards

Pauline

Why bother taking Spanish residency? Would it not be simpler to travel between the two and consider the house in the UK as your primary residence thus ensuring  your right to free medication. In normal times, we fly over for a month at a time or sometimes longer. Much prefer it during the winter months.   There is a firm advertising on the form called Silverdale transport and they could bring everything out to Spain for you.   Are you now living in Spain or still in the UK?

Furniture from home doesn’t always suit Spanish homes!  Sometimes easier to start afresh and buy what suits the house.  The old fashioned pine us fast losing it’s appeal in Spain! The modern look is so much nicer in my opinion!
