Hello Ray,

Please refrain from referring to our Prime Minister as a waffling buffoon. It’s offensive and unnecessary as I now know your opinion of him as do others so please, no more.

Yesterday, we heard on the news that King Juan Carlos has left Spain and is in hiding because of fraudulent activities. Nobody from the UK has passed any negative comments as it is unnecessary.  It is common knowledge that many politicians in Spain leave a lot to be desired but Thankfully, we don’t feel the need to constantly go on about it. I was very proud to hear Boris speaking on the news yesterday and has given financial help to the people of Beirut. No doubt, there will be some negative remarks at some point. Hopefully not.

Honestly Ray, if somebody spoke about you in a rude and condescending way, I would be equally annoyed.  We are all adults and deserve some respect.  None of us are perfect, least of all me but it’s hurtful when people who you don’t even know speaks about you an unflattering way.

I would dearly like to see respect and politeness coming back into this forum.  Let’s give it a try! Cheers every.

Totally agree with you, get fed up listening to expats running UK down all the time! Totally unnecessary in my opinion.

Whatever happened to be kind ?

My mother used to say if you have nothing nice to say be quiet !
we have a property in Quesada but prefer to stay safe in the UK at present time . We aren’t running Spain down it’s just our preference.

Hi d80gs2, it is a lot more people than you. I have decided the best way to deal with obviously stupid or inflammatory posts such as Stan's above is to ignore them and not respond. I suspect a lot of others are doing the same.

Aitch.

Ray D.

“ safer here than in the U.K.”

Honestly, do you genuinely believe that we are unsafe in the UK?   Take it from me, we are as safe as houses here apart from the few areas that are experiencing Covid 19. Nowhere near as bad as in the north of Spain.

It was kind of you to reply and encouraging but you don’t mention the likelihood of people all arriving from Madrid and other areas who could make your area much less safe. I hope and trust that they don’t bring infection but it is a strong possibility.

It’s a strange one, but we believe that we are safer here than in Spain so perhaps we are all living in the right place.  Safe as houses!  So far!

I think that people need to stop making statements for large groups of other people.  I personally feel (relatively) safe where I live in England but would not visit Manchester (where I have many relatives) , parts of Lancashire and other hotspots. I certainly do not believe I am any safer in England than Spain or the reverse. There are selfish people in both countries who will not distance and wear masks.  I realise there are dangers and regulations in both countries so need to remain vigilant and aware in either.  It is not a competition on safeness . The original question was about circumstances of visiting Spain.  Thanks for the info.

Hi all

I didn’t realise my original post would cause so much debate. Back to the original topic if it is helpful for anyone travelling back from Spain to Stansted

- At Murcia airport all shops on ground level are closed and the airport is very empty

- Once you go through security there is a WHSmith and a souvenir shop open but nothing much else is open. The WHSmith is extortionate as are most airport shops but as you can take no liquids through security it is the only place I found to purchase a drink/ water

- Ryanair flights were not so full so the air stewards allowed you to space out on the plane and sit in a row away from people {*this will differ on each flight}

- At Stansted there is no social distancing. When we arrived there were lots of crowds to go through Border Patrol. Everyone was still wearing masks but not spaced out. Just all squashed together .{*just my experience it might be different another day}

- At Stansted they did not ask or check for your 14 day quarantine form that they say is compulsory. In Spain on arrival you had to show a QR code or you wouldn’t be let through. This did not happen when I arrived in the UK. You just show your passport and walk straight through. If you don’t have it they do not question you or ask for it.

I hope that helps - again I will caveat all the above with this my personal experience. It may be different when you go/

Thank you

And yet people *still* try playing the "all countries are the same & our Govt is doing the best job it can" card.

This one anecdote alone shows quite clearly how our Govt aren't taking any of this seriously enough.

Hence why we've got the highest death toll in Europe.

But I suppose people will still reply saying what a great job "Boris" is doing & how we should cut them some slack.

They're laughing at you but you can't see it.

They love stupid people. Easy to manipulate with a few xenophobic dog whistles & you all vote them back in.

No wonder the UK's screwed.

With an attitude like yours, you are a very screwed up individual.  Please, give it a rest. We have all got the message by now. We aren’t stupid.

This forum was created to help us NOT to antagonise us.  Enough is enough.

With all due respect, ie none...no.

What an idiot you are mate look at the figures we live in Spain and love our Spanish life style the cases in Spain are spiking again with nearly 385000 cases been detected more than the Uk

Deaths in Spain are around 28000 which is reported to be to low at least another 18000 people who died but weren’t tested and spanish newspapers are reporting they have died of covid.

The Uk has had problems as have all countries this is not a competition people are dying all over the world.

All countries are struggling Uk no better or worse than Spain so get a grip man and stop having a go at the Uk mate.
