If/when you open an account with Sabadell they will try to sell you home insurance. It will be slightly more expensive than you can find from an independent broker but might be worth taking if you are going to purchase property here. This is because if you are buying and you want a bankers draft ...

...to go to notary they will charge you for it. What I did was to accept the insurance on the proviso they didn't charge for the draft, then I moved my insurance after year one. (One thing to be aware of is that in Spain all insurers require 3 months notice of cancellation or you are locked into charges for the following year)

Not true on the three months cancellation, 30 days is the correct notice or in my most recent cancellation to move to another company one week was all that was needed.

Fair comment in that case but there does appear to be a variety of timescales as I had two that required 3 months and one that required a month. So I guess the best advice is to ask when you take it out!

The most efficient and friendly Bank we have found to deal with is the Deutsche on Diana 4 Denia

Thanks will take a look there too.

Any idea what the monthly cost for having an account might be?

The Sabadell ordinary current account costs 35 a quarter for non residents. It depends how you see it of course, some may baulk at that, but I felt it was decent value for the quality of service, the excellent App in English, and the in branch assistance also in English if required. Plus the very large geographical spread of ATM's. Cheap or free banking is great until you have a potentially serious issue which requires telephone or in branch resolution.

I haven't used other banks so can't comment on how they compare.

Best regards

Steve
