I have just bought a place and had set up the acc you mentioned with Sabedell. The day I was busy travelling the bank informed taht  the bankers draft to purchase the property would be 300eu! I had been so busy I hadn't considered it would be so expensive, the Halifax side to a foriegn exchange company had been only £25! They added it would be less if I purchased house insurance through them.. At the end of the day it was too late for me to make a different arrangement so I negotiated to get the fee down and asked advice in a fb page, it seemed that for some the fee was waived but I wasn't that lucky! Think the bank is fine for all else but try and find an alternative for the property payment! Goodluck with everything!

Thank you very much for the info. Does anyone have any experience/suggestions regarding how the bankers draft could be done more cheaply?

Someone informed me too late that Caixa charge 50eu, others had it paid through the money transfer service they had arranged.
