Hi with restrictions currently being applied, what do you think the chances are of getting from France down to Denia, we will stick to the motorway all the way but need to stop at Calamocha for an overnight stay? We are driving down to our parents in Denia. Thanks Sarah

Actual ruling for the territory of Aragon prohibits entry/exit/ for any one from today to Nov. 9. So better take the route via Vitoria, Burgos, Madrid - easier driving and less tolls.

Ok I thought on the motorway we might be ok, surely Madrid has the same issue does it not, thought it was worse in fact.

I may be proved wrong but I think if you route from Calais and enter Spain at La Jonquera north of Barcelona staying on the motorway the whole time you should be fine. Valencia has a curfew midnight to 6.00am but in any case my advice would be to travel in daytime hours, eg 6.00am-10.00pm. The A10 then A7 cut straight through the centre of France, bringing you down to Beziers where you join the coastal A9 into Spain and onto the AP-7. Worth a look, toll motorway all the way right into the Costa Blanca.

Kind regards, Steve

Hi thanks very helpful. We come in at st Mali but even so we can head to south west France as suggested and come down the east coast of Spain rather than what we’d normally do which is cross the border at Irun, and through the centre of Spain which would take us down the centre of Aragon. We’d need to stay overnight probably just south of Barcelona. We have accommodation booked in France just before Bordeaux but that could work for our alternative route. I’ve downloaded a map that shows me the regions in Spain, my geography is reasonable but I am unsure what regions will be a no go ☹️

It looks like France MIGHT go into a full lockdown in which case only travelers returning to their main residence would be permitted to travel. (IF the regulations are the same as the last time) Worth keeping an eye on the news and the French tourism website.

Hi thanks I’d seen news today, so will wait to see what Macron says in his address. The ferries from Jersey to France would probably cancel too if they do the national lockdown, what With Coronavirus and Brexit our retirement plans are well and truly scuppered, for the moment anyway, although I fear Brexit may continue to affect us long-term maybe even coronavirus tooGod knows

Have a look at the N332 Facebook page as they keep us informed of the rules and regulations regarding COVID.

Hi ,

A couple of weeks ago I  drove from Dieppe to Denia , vie Bordeaux,  Pamplona, Teruel etc , motorway all the way and no problems or stops at all . Drove back a week ago - got stopped just outside Valencia for a routine check and they just wanted to check documents and the reason for the journey- all ok and the same in France. There is a lot of hype about the borders etc but they are apen and motorway routes are fine .

I live in S/W France and I find going  via Oloron St Marie  ( from Bordeaux you take the A63 , then the A64 to Pau ) through the Somport tunnel , then   Via Zaragoza then A23 then A7 , it is mostly motorway and no tolls . However I have to come down to sign for my Spanish Residency next month and the advice I’ve received on this site seems to indicate that if you are stopped in Spain / France you need to have paperwork to justify your trip , not just for going on Holiday . However as the current rules and situations keep changing , I think it’s a bit of a lottery . I guess it depends whether you think it’s worth the risk of being stopped and then turned back . The only places you are likely to be stopped and questioned is at the borders or on non motorway route ( roundabouts and traffic lights ) where it is safe to set up roadblocks stop vehicles and check their paperwork. Good luck and hope the “ wheel of fortune “ spins in your favour 🤞🤞
