Thanks. Keep smoking or drinking whatever you're on 😂

To tell you the truth, Kim 007’s answer may be the best! Not as a solution for the noisy running around or barking perhaps or the poo everywhere situation, and believe me I do sympathise as I have noisy neighbours with noisy and invasive animals, but for the training aspect.

Train the dog to do what you want it to do. If the dog approaches you growling or barking, talk to it in a soft ‘baby talk’ voice and start by placing a dog biscuit on the floor in front of you. If the dog comes over and takes it, continue talking to it, saying ‘good boy’.

Next time go a step further and give him a second biscuit. Maybe you can eventually get to stroke him. Only reward the dog with a pat or biscuit when he has stopped the aggressive behaviour. Remember however that dogs can sense our fear or hostility.

It does work, dogs are clever and will associate you with these pleasant actions.

Please let us know how you get on.

Reort it to Local Police, they will usually call on the owners, check on paperwork for dog and issue a warning.

Thanks. That seems the best way forward.

Thanks for the advice, but seriously I don't think it's up to me to retrain the dog. Cheers

Personally I'd invest in a water pistol and spray it at the dog every time it came near.

Recipe to get bitten right here, ladies and gentlemen.

Hi Craig,

It's illegal for a dog to be off leish outside the curtilage of the owners' property, so I would consider making a "denuncia" at the Guardia Civil.  However, if you live on a Community of Owners, in the first instance I would do as Bibba has suggested and speak to your president or administrator - ideally, they will be able to get the dog owner to comply, but if other owners have complained, it will add weight to your denuncia if that becomes necessary.

Good luck!

Kind regards,

Kim

I had a problem in Almoradi, young couple with big dog in flat next door, barking and howling during the day, called the Local Police ,they visited the next door flat, demanded all the paperwork concerning " chipping" etc. and then left after giving warning of fines to follow if animal was left in flat alone, problem was solved as thereafter when they were out at work a local relative took the dog.

Prior to that ,in a village I lived in, the local builders yard kept a guard dog in his yard ,during the day ,regardless of the weather in a large cage/ kennel and at night let it roam the yard,a local " ex pat" saw it in the cage and threatened to tell the police ,on my next visit the owner of the builders yard told me of his experience,I asked about the dog as the cage was empty and he shrugged and said there was now no problem as the dog was no more. Many Spanish have dogs but do not have the British attitude regarding their welfare.
