HI there

We are planning a trip in October to scout out Denia and Moraira . We will look to have a villa with pool and we would be using as a holiday place for the next 10 years and then retire there / spend most of our time there. I am a Spanish speaker and we love eating out , don't want to be overrun by tourists and live soemwhere with a vibrant heart with some cultural stuff going on ! I also love hiking and  we would like an international community too . Golf is also important .

Do you recommend any particular neighbourhoods within Denia and Moraira to explore? Any to avoid ? Any other towns we shoudl be cinsidering ?

Is there a shortage of stock ( 4 bed villas)  ? We have a property on the Costa Brava and there is nothing there to buy at the moment!

Many thanks

We fell in love with Moraira when we came on holiday in 2018, so much so we sold up and bought a villa there in 2019.  We checked out Denia but it was too built up for our liking.

We are close enough to walk to the beach but far enough away so we dont get disturbed with all the fireworks.

We dont have a pool and having worked as a Pool Cleaner, unless you intend to use it all the time all year round, the upkeep and maintenance is an aggravation I'm happy to do without for something that would only get used a few months of the year.

That said, we are now planning on returning to the UK!!!

Enjoy your visit and may you be blessed with your choices

My partner and I moved out here permanently four years ago, to a three bed villa with pool on an urbanisation in Adsubia village near Pego. We love it. The village and our urbanisation has a good multi national community, a great public pool and bar, three other bars, a couple of shops, an art gallery and an excellent GP surgery.

Pego 3km away is a small town with all the necessary facilities like banks, supermarkets and health centre. We can be on Deveses beach in fifteen minutes, in Oliva and Denia in twenty minutes, Javea in thirty five.

In the other direction, we are at the start of the beautiful valleys of Galinera and d'Ebo, training grounds of many international cycling teams. Nearest golf is Oliva Nova and La Sella, Denia.

We often say we could eat out 365 days a year if we wanted to and never go to the same place twice. There are restaurants and bars to suit every taste and pocket within 25km of here.

I don't know what property is on the market locally, but you could do worse than check it out on t'internet.

Thanks for your reply. Sounds like a great move! I have been looking at property online and you definitely get more for your. money than in The Costa Brava plus better weather. I read somewhere that you get more sun in Moraira than Denia but not sure why ?

Moriara has its on micro-climate as its in a valley - a pretty massive one I hasten to add, so when its raining in the surrounding areas you get to watch an absolutely fantastic Lightening show.  Very atmospheric.

There are several differences between Moraira and Denia, but the main defining difference is size.

Denia is a thriving Spanish metropolitan town, almost like a small city in size and culture. They're both beautiful and both great to live in, but you probably need to spend a little time exploring both to help you make a decision.

Denia has two beautiful marinas, a larger choice of bars and restaurants, the 'tourist population' is more integrated simply because of the size of the town.

Worth noting that to the north of Denia there are 17km of sandy beaches. The beach in Moraira gets very busy and El Portet has very little parking. I would say Moraira is perhaps more 'chic'......but there are more all year round activities in Denia.

Moraira is also just a bit more expensive than the Denia area for property.

Thanks Steve . Both sound great . I like the sound of the bustle of Denia so will look to base ourselves there when we come in October.

Hi We would agree with all that has been said, on a side issue we found the people in Moraira to be a little older. Denia tends to be a younger vibe. While in Denia, you could travel 10 minutes down the road and there is another beautiful town called Javea well worth a look.
