That is ridiculous to mention racism 😞

Whatever Dave I will differ with what you say as i have had certain companies who will not call a UK phone because they say it is to expensive.

I agree with you Steve.  I had trouble trying to set up my bank account as I had a UK number.  Could only resolve by going into the branch.   Ultimately, it is up to individuals to decide but we thought it best to have one UK mobile (mine) and one Spanish mobile (Mike's) and so far, it has worked for us! we

Well you would have to go to the branch, as they probably only deal with you there, not on a uk phone.

If your contacts are all mobile back in the uk install what's app on a Spanish phone and just use that.

Sorry but a Tesco mobile is not a good idea here in Spain, you should get something like Vodafone or o2, then you can use your minutes abroad.

The account can be set up online, but would only accept a Spanish number.  That, and that alone, was the only reason I had to go into the branch.  However, I'll reiterate that individuals have a choice to make with mobiles - I was merely expressing what works well for us.

It seems Dave knows best!! However I (and now others, Dave) still think and have experienced the need for a Spanish number when dealing with some institutions. Some will not entertain the idea of contacting you on a UK number 🙄

I do all my online banking on my UK mobile as I can't get Barclays Mobile Banking app on my Spanish phone. Keeping my UK phone on pay as you go costs me very little so not worth worrying about. I use my Spanish phone for Spanish business.

Then you obviously don’t phone to the uk,but you can still phone Spanish land line and mobiles using you uk phone,so what’s the point of getting a Spanish mobile !

You are living in the past mate, I use my uk phone for 20 years here and never had any problems phoning anyone anywhere, and I’ve had 3 bank accounts with the top banks and never had any problems when they have to call me.
