No tests required to enter Sweden on Monday 19th July, but could only check in to Norwegian airlines 24 hours before the flight (Sunday afternoon) - and that’s when the ‘fun’ started.   It was the airline that needed a pre-flight Covid test, not Sweden.  Que calls to airport to ascertain test centre booked and anyway results would take 12hours.  Will not go into last minute panic that ensued, safe to say I was at IMED hospital early Monday for my 40€ antigen test.   Couple of hours later presented vax certificate and antigen negative result to checkin and that was it.   Got to Sweden, collected case and walked out of airport into a mask-free, stress-free atmosphere.  It’s so much better than constant reminders about, Alpha, Beta and Delta variants.  Ok the virus is here, but there isn’t the pressure.  Just thought I’d add my two pence to the debate!

Useful info.

It might be that the plane goes to places other than Sweden, so the airline's issue is keeping the plane safe.

Meanwhile here in the UK, where nearly all Covid restrictions were removed on Monday, at least 80% of shop customers and staff are still wearing masks when they are no longer mandatory, no doubt fuelled by the daily updates in the media about this and that variant.  It's amazing what people will do when they have been made to feel constantly afraid.

Hello

75% of my neighbours in my urbanisation are Swedish & arriving & leaving on a regular basis at the moment. Lots are pensioners and many have told me how much safer they feel here in Spain with mask wearing ,safe distancing, beach rules & other restrictions, than they do going back to Sweden!

Cheers

Which is exactly my point.  People have been made so afraid of Covid that they 'feel' safe wearing masks and doing all sorts of other strange things.  Whether they are actually any safer than not doing them is another matter.  I think the OP's point was that people in Sweden at least feel more relaxed without doing those things and the overall situation there is little different from other European countries.

Okay, yes agree, it is safe in Spain, but for me, I like not having to feel anxious.   This is my experience and I prefer a relaxed atmosphere.   Regards.

Thank you.  Incidentally, I did notice a mobile vaccination van tonight parked outside the co-op in the part of Stockholm where I am.   Very low key and reassuring.

It's interesting that the Swedes feel safer in Spain, the stats show that deaths and infections are less in Sweden than Spain. It may be that they feel safer wearing face masks, etc  plus not so much focus on the news on a daily basis?

Aitch.
