Formentera is a lovely village but it can be like living in a ghost town. For a village it has a lot of bars, butchers, supermarket etc.

It has a lovely square which has its own bar.

During the day you might not see a soul, in the summer months the place comes alive at night with a lot of the Spanish sitting outside there homes.

Buses are not reliable at all but when you do catch one it takes you to guardamar which is a bus station.

Taxis are hard to get as there is no taxis rank.

If you like walking you can walk to Rosales, benijofar and the urbanization of benimar which has English bars Chinese etc .

There is a really good reliable taxi service based in Formentera the number can be found on various posters around the village.

Hello Jan, we are planning a property hunting  weekend in October coming. We have refined our searches down to Formentera or torrevieja. I am Irish living in the UK and would like to meet up for a pint or two with someone with experience of living in either area. Iv been following this forum for quite a while and value the information and honest opinions posted here. Looking forward to hearing from someone now. Cheers Tony

Just joined forum today and saw this. There is a very reliable taxi service based in Formentera and they speak English. Just telephone and they will pick you up. Used them several times. Limited bus service between Guardamar and Orihuela, a bus to Alicante twice a day. But a shirt walk to Rojales...

... and Beniofar with buses available there also.

To really appreciate all the area has to offer a car is advisable, the roads are very good and there is easy motorway access from the village.

Despite the late reply hope this helps.

Hi Socym, would you have the number of that Taxi Firm you mention in your post.  We have just joined the Forum and haven't had time to look through all the posts so sorry if it is already given here before.  We are house hunting at the minute and may buy in Formentera or the surrounding areas so it will be good to know.  We will have a car with us but driving and vino do not mix.

Hi taxi number 0034 608373979

They are based in the village of Formentera, very reliable and speak English.

Good luck with your house hunting, it is a really nice area to buy.

Thanks for that information Gerry.

Hi Jerry, thanks for your reply, I'm researching the area at the moment with the view of investing in a small bachelor pad. The thing is I work in the UK and the exchange rate is very bad right now. Iv decided just to hang on for a year to see will brexit sort itself out. Might meet up for a pint and a chat some time if that would be OK.

Cheers Tony

Hi Socym, thanks for that taxi number.  We fell for the place and have been able to buy a lovely apartment close to Sunleys.  We met so many lovely people in the short week we were there and see that while it is a wonderful sleepy Spanish village it has enough of an expat community to make you feel at home.  Can't wait to get over again soon and make the most of Formentera del Segura and the surrounding areas.

So glad you found somewhere, Formentera really is a lovely friendly village. We are looking forward to coming back out in a couple of weeks, love it there.

Enjoy your Formentera bolt hole.
