Hi.

I have agreed the purchase on an apartment in Gandia now, which should complete in early August. I am starting to think about the services, although the owner is going to assist me in setting up insurance, water and electricity to start with.

Is there only one option for the water supply in the town?

Are there different suppliers with whom you can take a contract for electricity?

What is the best suggestion for having fast internet? Is it best to use fibre opitic or a 5g service of some sort to a box of some sort?

I want to be able to access TV from different countries including the UK and understand that the more usual way now is via a smart tv application of some sort. (I am used in France to having a dish pointing to astra 2 and using a free to view box, but maybe this is an old way of doing things).

Any advice appreciated - equally if there is someone that sets up this sort of thing.

Many thanks.

Steve.

You can't do anything w/o providing corresponding certificates of copletion which m ujst be handed to you by the vendor, precisely a. Certificación de final de obra, b. boletin de instalacion electrica, c. for water and drainage talk to the competent service provider for his conditions.

Hi Steve,

It's the norm that your lawyer would arrange the transfer of utilities from the vendor's name to the buyer, ensuring that the cost of outstanding bills are borne by the vendor, not the buyer.  You should confirm this with your lawyer.

Regarding Internet supply, it depends on what is available in your area.  Is there fibre optic supply to the property?  When we first moved to Spain, we had a dish on our roof with an Internet/phone/TV package from a local provider.  A different provider then laid fibre optic to our urbanisation, so we switched, got rid of the dish and bought an IPTV box.  We have Smart TVs, so we can access our Netflix and other subscriptions very easily.

Kind regards,

Kim

Thanks for taking the time to reply Kim. My lawyer has proposed this (at a cost) and so maybe I will go back to him and see what this will cover. I did think that it would be possible to do this with the owners help but maybe there is a risk.

Not sure whether there is fibre optic available so will have to check with the vendor - easy if there is.

I had to look up what an IPTV box to find out what it is. This seems like the solution, with a smart tv. Probably, with a VPN you can then also access bbc etc.

Thanks again.
