If I were to move to Spain, one of the things I would greatly miss is British telly! Is it possible to receive Freeview TV in Spain. If so, would that require a satellite dish? Also, what would it cost? Thank you.

If you get a reasonably fast internet deal you can get IPTV / all UK channels, IPTV will cost around 60 euro per year.
Or you can get a dish, higher upfront cost but not an annual cost.
Lots of options, don't worry about missing UK TV.

I've been living here in Benidorm for 9 years and have had UK TV in all that time.
I can receive many UK channels (36 in all) through my iptv android box. A one off purchase for the box then I have Tvmucho app installed that costs me around €40 per annum. I have high speed cable Internet access.
I also have a firestick plugged into the back of the telly with an app installed whereas I can receive every channel you can imagine including all sky channels and all sports channels within Europe. I pay £40 annually for that.
Everything is easily sorted!!

No you cannot get Freeview outside the UK, as Freeview is UK TV via a TV aerial and the transmissions from the UK based mast do not reach Spain (they barely cover the uk!)
But you can get, with a one off installation cost, Freesat, with a satellite dish and Freesat receiver, with its signals being sent via satellite. 150+ live subscription free and direct from the actual broadcasters.
Drop me a message if you want to know more.
My 2c worth.
Satellite TV, Sky and Freesat etc. are yesterday's technology and are rapidly being supplanted by onine solutions.
For those already invested in a satellite system, already not without it's problems due mainly to marginal signal reception and most recently the migration of many services to HD, then fine keep it going as best you can but for those starting out today it's very difficult to recommend it as the way forward.
The principal advantage a satellite systems can hold over online solutions is that it will continue to work in the event an Internet connection goes down but that's scant reason to favour it.
Also whilst Freesat and Freeview from Sky are free to view the choice can be limiting particularly in the field of sport which many simply cannot face life without. For the most part online solutions do not have those restraints.
Your money so your choice, just try and make it an informed one!

We have both IPTV and satellite linked to our sky box, both systems can have their own issues, if you have only IPTV and there is a problem with the internet- no system with satellite we are at the mercy of the weather. Like you say it's probably best if the OP sees both systems in use then get what suits them.

I've not had a problem with the Internet services in 9 years with Movistar.

Hi
Whilst agreeing that satellite is going out of fashion, IPTV has a problem that will affect a percentage of viewers - it's close to impossible to get subtitles for the hard of hearing, unless you stick to services like Netflix and Amazon Prime.
I know this to my cost, because my wife has very little hearing!
Cheers

And for those of us miles out in the campo, yesterday’s technology it may be, but satellites are the only solution for us. Phone signals drop out notoriously at the end of our lane and do not reappear for approx 3 km!

We haven't had problems with Ole until recently now it has gone very flaky others have also commented on this. If we weren't returning to the UK in a couple of months we would definitely be shopping around.
