Looking for information or advice on buying and getting a solar system installed in a property with no electric,  this will be the only power to the house , it is a 2 bedroom single story with a large flat roof . Any info will be much appreciated.

Steve .

Although we are connected to mains electricity we also thought about solar when we first moved over, it seemed such a waste with all the sunshine. We have a 140 M2 villa and for hot water and electric (including heating)  we were given a ballpark figure of €14,000. Needless to say, we didn't take it any further.
I personally know of only one person who had solar fitted and whilst we were staying with them the engineer seemed to be a permanent fixture and for most of our stay the house was run via a generator and the sun was shining all day every day.
Try a google search for installers in the area and get quotes.

Hi Cheryl

Thanks so much for your response . Solar will be our only supply so will probably have a generator back up .

Regards Steve.

I have Mains electricity but a solar system for the domestic hot water. We haven't had a hot shower all winter. I'll be installing a gas (butane) fired combination boiler and central heating during the summer and when done the solar system will be in the skip. If you don't have mains electric be prepared to spend a goodly amount each winter fuel for your generator.
