Temporary SIP card expiry date and vaccination

I have private Health Care, I only have the SIP card for the Covid vaccination. I will be getting a new GHIC when my EHIC expires though. Thanks for your reply. 

I am under uk retirement age, resident here in Spain, have private health insurance and reading the uk government website I am not entitled to renew or apply for a EHIC/GHIC as I am not resident in the uk and without this I have been refused a temporary sip number for vaccination purposes only. At my age = 61, not resident in the uk, as said I am not entitled to a EHIC/GHIC or the usage of one here in Spain, being a resident at my age, that’s why I have private health insurance in my first year of residency.

Hi Peter, my husband and I both fall into the same category as you. When we applied to register for the temporary SIP there was a lot of confusion. However the receptionist eventually understood that we were registering only for the vaccine. We were not provided with a card but were added to a list and told we would be contacted when it is our turn. This was at Las Lomas Health Centre.

Hi Alison and thank you for your reply, yes that’s exactly what I have been asking for! But to no avail! But I tried for the last 3/4 weeks and I am either asked to leave or they say not possible or a straight forward NO with a shrug of the shoulders! I am visiting again tomorrow and then the next week and so on! I know I have time on my side as to the way the vaccination process here will take it’s time, good luck and well done to you, stay safe and healthy.

If you're Resident in Spain and not yet UK State retirement age, I'm afraid you aren't entitled to the new GHIC card until you reach pensionable age.  There are many of us in the same position.
