Hi everyone! This is my first post on the forum... Many of you will be aware of the new walkway for the paragliders up at the top next to the Olivo De Oro/Brisas Del Faro Community. But how many of you are aware of the fact that a new wall is under construction which will reduce the paragliders' ...

...site by more than half? This has been instigated by the President & Board of the Olivo De Oro/Brisas Del Faro Community who own that particular area of land. Their aim is to separate community land from public land mainly because they have a personal grudge against the paragliders.
You may well be surprised to learn that my husband & I have owned a house within the Olivo De Oro/Brisas Del Faro Community for over 10 years and we, along with many other owners are totally against such an unnecessary action. On the contrary, we are aware that paragliding has been practised on that site for almost 30 years. As, like many of you, we love to watch them soaring across the cliff tops...
It is not known for certain but we strongly suspect that planning permission for the wall has not been given by the Town Hall. Even if it has been granted, why oh why would the Town Hall approve of this when they have invested so much money in the building of a new walkway for the paragliders? Surely paragliding is one of Santa Pola's/ Gran Alacant's tourist attractions?
Tomorrow, some owners from our community and from the paragliding community are to meet at the site in order to protest this insane idea! The media have been invited too and if you would like to add your support then please visit the site before 12 o'clock tomorrow, 20th September. If you are taking the train then the nearest stop is at El Faro, stop No 12.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, my first post! This photo, which shows where the fence is to be built, was taken today! Please feel free to tell your friends... we need your support!
Hi everybody!
I want to express my point of view in this matter.
I have a house in Olivo de Oro near the pool, playground and paddletennis. There is often quite a lot noice from this area and sometimes you wake up from the noice of padddletennis or in the middle of night from dogs barking, but I dont complain. People love to do different things and so it shall be. I chose to buy my house there and of course must accept the conditions - and I of course do! The paragliders are giving minimum noice and are very friendly, trying to minimise the inconvenience.
The paragliding has been in this place more then 20 years before Olivo/Brisas was built and planed. If you look at the picture of the take off, the walls and parking are typicly design for the matter paragliding was there first. It is also written very clear in the papers you sign by the Notarious in Santa Pola when buying the house in Olivo de Oro that there are paragliding there and the take of has "Ob Rem", public access and it is not possible to built something there. The road inside the urbanisation to the flying area, was a public road for everybody before, but was closed when it became gated community.
The voting about this was not in the Annual Meeting, it was made in an Extra Annual Meeting 2 weeks before the Annual Meeting and only 8% of the 324 owners were there. I got no info about this Extra Meeting. It was also said that 50% of the cost will most probably be payed by Santa Pola city consuil - of course pure fantasy and not given. This about the truth and lies. My name is Tomas and I told were I live - honesty is to not post here anonymous.
Let people do what they love to do and dont be grumpy old man!
Best Regards from Tomas, Olivo de Oro
