Hi,
I understand when you have registered your property for rental you need an energy certificate and you need to register your guests with the local police. Does anyone know/have advice how to go about this please

DaveBev1 has created an excellent set of guides the about the Tourist Licence. I´m not sure which part will answer your queries (if I remember correctly, you register with the Guardia Civil to complete guest details online), but you should find the information at this link:

You need the energy certificate as part of the application process. You register with the police only after you have obtained your Tourist License.
First you need to apply at your Town Hall for a Certificate of Compatibility. If you get that you can apply to the office for tourism for a Tourist License. Once you have that you register with the Guardia Civil (policies local in some areas) to enable you to file details of guests.
You cannot legally advertise an unlicensed property for holiday rental, fines can be very large if caught renting without a License. You also need to pay tax on your rental income (every quarter if non-resident).
Not all properties can obtain a Tourist License.

Thanks for that. We have four licence number already. What is the best way to contact the police in gran alacant with guest info bearing in mind language issues and unable to travel to Spain from Uk?

If you already have the License you need to register with the Guardia Civil. Usually done in person with your License, NIE and passport but if you ate not in Spain your fiscal or legal rep may be able to do it on your behalf. You may also need to pre-book an appointment.
You will be issued with login codes specific to your property so you can register guests details. Usually you give the passport details for all guests 16 years or older but Spanish guests can also use Spanish national ID.
