Hi! My daughter is about to buy a flat in Gran Alacant. The flat and mortgage will all be in her name only. Her boyfriend of 5 years lives with her (they have lived together in a number of rented properties). He has no job and will not be paying anything towards the flat. Does anybody know if he has any rights to the ownership of the flat (for example common-law husband etc)? Thank you

This is a specific legal question, when it comes to legal advice always get it from a qualified lawyer in writing.  Your daughter needs to get this information from someone with all the facts to hand and who is qualified to give the answer.  As she is in the process of buying at the moment it wont cost her anything to get that point clarified.  There will be those who think they know the answer to this (including myself) on the information given but none of us are actually qualified to give legal advice, neither are we fully conversent with any additional information that may influence the correct answer.

Make sure th Public deed to show "soltera" (marital status = single) and that's it.
