Has anyone had the experience of trying to pay car tax IVTM, out of the stated period on the official bill. Been on line but seem to need a new bill or reference number. Not clear how this is obtained.

Hi HughF,
As you´re outside of the payment period, I´d advise calling SUMA on (00 34) 965 292 000 and ask for an English speaker (the lines are open Monday to Friday from 0800 to 2100 and Saturdays from 1000 to 1400). I believe you´ll need a new reference number to pay online, but you can also pay by debit or credit card over the phone.

No, I haven´t needed to - as I live here permanently, I´ve been able to visit our local SUMA office - but I know non-residents who have paid via phone from the UK.
