Just read through some of the replies to this.

What a friendly, empathetic bunch, eh?

You have no idea of the OP's circumstances & there may be a perfectly legitimate reason for him / her being one month behind.

I'd like to think that if I was genuinely struggling like this & in fear of being rendered homeless (for whatever reason) & reached out for advice, I would receive a more positive response than being piled on & labelled a scrounger by a load of strangers who knew precisely nothing about me or my circumstances.

Not something you'd normally expect from the internet eh? There are clearly many people on this type of forum who have personal experience of (perhaps) having a problematic lodger who will not pay their rent & who come up with all sort of excuses, so maybe not too surprising to sense little stmpathy - especially on a specific forum like this.

There are also undoubtedly folks on here who have been renters - perhaps they have dutifully paid their rent every month, no matter what their trials and issues - again, they are perhaps unlikely to be sympathetic with someone who has admittedly fallen behind with their rent payments.

All in all, the internet is an unforgiving and unsympathetic place by it’s very nature. People are instinctively helpful on forums such as this but it is perhaps no surprise to find a distinct lack of sympathy on this particular post, for the reasons I’ve stated here. Welcome to the web.
