Hi folks, just about to book an apartment for our two week holiday in 2020.

Our dates are 22/08/20 - 05/09/20

Before I do this, I thought I'd ask if any of you lovely folks have a place available for these dates.

Just me and the wife. TV and WiFi essential and a communal pool would be ideal.

There are plenty available but just thought I'd ask you guys first.

Many thanks,

Archie.

We have a lovely 2 bedroom townhouse in the La Zenia area which is an ideal location for a holiday. It is 10 mins walk to the beach, walking distance to all amenities such as Supermarkets, Bars and Restaurants, and the fantastic La Zenia Boulevard is a 2 minute walk through the park at the bottom of the road. The house is in a lovely quite road. Not sure what your budget is but we charge 600 for the August week, and 500 for the September week. Here is the advert link which provides all information and photos.

For short-term let: 2 bedroom house / villa in La Zenia

Thanks, Alan

Hi. Thank you so much for your reply. We’re really looking for something (this time) more central to Guardamar.

Thanks again for your reply though - really appreciated and your place is gorgeous.

Best regards,

Archie.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

Why don't you (ie the original poster) ask Jan, the lady who manages the Costa Blanca Forum, about this?  She also appears to manage the website through which the property is advertised.  I'm sure she would be aware that anyone advertising "illegal" lets runs the risk of being fined, along with the property owner, if the property doesn't hold the relevant licence.

I didn't suggest that you should do it, rather the person enquiring about any lets; but also the company advertising the property is liable to be fined - as I mentioned, in this case it appears to be a company managed by the owner of this forum- and I don't think making a statement within their ads about not being responsible for checking the legality of a letting will get them off the hook either... Whether it's true or not, I heard the fines could be as much as 90,000 euros.  I have looked into the viability of letting my own holiday home out on a short term basis - assuming the local ayuntamiento agreed to it, which is not the case in my area currently (La Marina) - and it's my understanding that it isn't sufficient to state that a licence has been applied for, when advertising your holiday home; you actually have to have the licence in place (and the licence plate on display on the property) before you offer it for rental.  I'm just saying all this as an add on to your useful comments highlighting the potential risk to the holidaymakers as well.  The best way for anyone considering renting a property privately to guarantee they will actually get to use the place they rent out is to ask for the licence number up front, and don't rent anything that doesn't have one.  My information only concerns properties within Valencia.

Hi everyone. Thanks so much for all of your replies - very much appreciated.

Given that we’re just looking for a small apartment for 2 weeks whilst we enjoy a break & explore the region (with one eye on our long term plan to retire to Guardamar in 3 years time) we are really just looking for a nice clean space.

I have booked a place on the HimeAway app now for under €500 for the 2 weeks - all looks fine and will suit us fine.

The chat about the need for owners to have a licence is an interesting one & would certainly be relevant under a separate chat string. For us though, it is of no interest as it is extremely unlikely that we, as renters, would be unfortunate enough to be in the property at the very time that the owner was told to cease trading - if indeed that would ever happen. As I say, it’s a valid topic for conversation on a forum such as this where property owners may be looking to rent their place out for short term periods - just not something that I’m interested in - at least not for now.

Anyway, thanks again for all the replies & we will no doubt come looking for advice on all sorts as our time for moving to Guardamar gets closer.

As well as enjoying our holiday, we are keen to explore as many of the little towns etc further in land from Guardamar itself.

Best regards,

Archie.

What a joke getting a holiday let licence,  been a year and still counting , no reply and no reply to a complaint letter, like dealing with the mafia,  it should go back to the old system,  a free for all!

IMHO there are many reasons for Spanish economy being disfunctional. Over-complicated systems and unrealistic logic appear to be among the greatest - not to mention unworkable laws that they dont even try to implement.

To imply that holidaymakers are a real cause is the kind of reason why real problems continuously get swepped under the carpet.

Hello, we are moving to villamartin next month. We have bought a house with a self contained 1 bed apartment on the ground floor. We will be refurbishing it to a high standard and renting it out from April. We have a lovely communal pool and we are only 10 mins drive from la zenia beach, 15 min walk from villamartin plaza. We will be charging 50 euros a night. Let me know if you would like more details/photos once the refurb is complete. We will also be fully licensed and legal xx
