Hi, I am currently being taxed in Spain on my state pension and private pension, but my private pension is still being taxed at source in the UK. Any information on how I can rectify this and what documents I need would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Christine

Hi Christine I  to have Government pension and taxed In the UK.

All your paper work is provided to your Gestor and includes this Information. You cannot be taxed 2times..but have to provide evidence of all your income.

Hopefully this helps.

Until you officially break the link with HMRC you will be taxed twice.
You need to fill in http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/gds/paye/attachments/81015_spain_indiv.pdf

and take it to the tax office in Alicante and they will issue the document listed at bullet point 3 on the front page.

I'm sure someone will be able to give a step by step guide but that's the basics.

You have not said that you have a government pension and if not then you can disregard all references to it in the replies.

The dual tax treaty ensures that you do not pay tax twice on the same money however there will usually be an overlap which means you often will until details of a change of tax residency works it way through the system at which point you should get a refund from UK.
