I’ve just had an email from the Suma office saying that a direct debit for 80 euros is due out on 3rd May.  I’ve always paid the direct debit in October time and it’s more than 80 euros.  Anyone else had this.  I haven’t clicked any links as I’m not sure it’s genuine.
the sender is [email protected]
the subject line is Nueva Notificación/Comunicación para X 8750**** - Periodo Voluntario 1-2024 - Recibos Domiciliados - Ref. [CSV-2024.2703.4176.1218]

Any thoughts?

Thanks, Hazel

Yes. It should include your direct debit         ( bank) notification. V

Rubbish collection tax due at this time. Around 80 euro a year and collected by SUMA. Along with car tax payments at the same time.

This will tell you when the various SUMA taxes are due

Thank you so much.  I can’t recall paying tax in May but I obviously must have done. Suma calendar will be useful thank you again

Guardamar normally collect the basura through the water bill as four quarterly payments.

My bill this quarter (a couple of weeks ago) was around 20€ lower than normal . Excitement was short lived when I realised the basura hadn’t been collected.

if you check on SUMA it says that it’s now collecting  the basura for Guardamar and as my bill last year totalled 75€  I’d guess that what the payment is for.

I’ve not seen any email as yet  regarding the collection , but if would have been nice for the ayuntamiento to notify us.  but  I remember the same thing happened in Orihuela last year and the forum was flooded with posts  because they too didn’t receive  notification.

Rojales has been collecting it separately for some years. Some municipalities collect it twice a year, others have it through their water bill. If collected as a tax your water bills will be reduced by the same amount.

The cost of rubbish collection is supposed to go up this year and Benidorm have had a 72% increase on their collection tax due to a EU ruling on disposal of plastics and other items which increases their bill from €112 to €192. Murcia is absorbing the extra this year to ease the increase. Ours is 78.90 a year but haven't had the bill or notification about any increase but the press has been full of stories about increases and, in some cases, up to 100% more.

Hotels are hit the most with a 200 bed hotel in Benidorm seeing its cost going from €7,979 a year up to €13,564.

And IBI is expected to be increased by 7% this year in our municipality.

The SUMA agency collection in May is usually for the car tax bill and the one in September is for the IBI (similar to UK rates).   SUMA is not a tax but is the agency that collects taxes on behalf of town halls within the Alicante Province.

If you look at the calendar I posted a link to you'll see there are other taxes collected and the waste collection tax is one of them if you no longer pay through your water bill.

So Basura for Guardamar is now an annual payment collected by SUMA

My payment has increased from 75€ to 105€.

And in Rojales we have a rise of 60% on waste collection and 7.7% on IBI collected by SUMA.

So our waste collection going up from 78.36 to around 125 euro and IBI from 264.14 to 284.

Ah well, death and taxes and all that.
