Good morning,

Thank you for posting the link to the SUMA calendar, its very useful and I think it answers my query,  However .....

My Suma bill arrived yeasterday for IVTM Motor tax which I was obviously expecting but with it was a second bill for 49.12 which as far as I can see is for RECOGIDA RESIDUOS SOLIDOS URBA   (Solid Waste Collection)

Iv'e never had this type of bill arrive with my IVTM bill before, it normally arrives with my property tax around August time.

Is it just that they are collecting it earlier now or are we going to have to pay again later in the year ?

Thanks

Gary

My Spanish solicitor told me that from 2024 Suma are sending out the bill for Basura in April and the Council Tax as normal in October. No doubt separating the two taxes will result in higher yearly taxation

Been mentioned before. Your solid waste collection used to be in with your water bill. They are now collecting it as separate tax in many areas and started here some 2 or 3 years ago. Your water bill will be reduced by one quarter every bill to account for this.

With the cost of that it looks like they are taking it in 2 instalments and the next one will be the same time as your IBI bill. Here they are collecting it in one go at around 80 euros each time although going up this year.

You aren't paying another tax, you are simply having it taken off your water bill and being accounted for differently.

And in Rojales we have a rise of 60% on waste collection and 7.7% on IBI collected by SUMA.

So our waste collection going up from 78.36 to around 125 euro and IBI from 264.14 to 284.

Ah well, death and taxes and all that.

Reading what some of you good people have been paying it seems like I've been getting off lightly over the last few years. My annual bill for waste collection has always been around 55 Euro's, but now I will be paying 49 euro's around April and another 49 euros later in the year.

I did do a "double check" with SUMA earlier and they confirmed it will be about 98 euro's for the year (split into the 2 x payments)

That's almost doubled.... ah well as marcliff stated "death and taxes and all that"

Each municipality charges their own rate. The larger the place, the more the cost. Benidorm, for example, is having a rise from 112 euro to 191.66 euro so a really big jump.

Some councils are also subsidising the cost and paying the extra (or some of it) and others aren't. One place in Murcia and the council is paying the entire amount of the rise.

Same with car tax, the council sets it so the more local roads you have the more you pay.
