IPlayer

I have a good internet connection and Apple TV but cannot get BBC iPlayer or ITV hub.
Any suggestions would be very welcome

That's because they're geo-blocked against use outside the UK. You'd have to use a VPN to make them think you're in the UK.
I use a paid-for VPN called "Hide My Ass" which works very well.
There are free VPN's available, but in my experience in general they don't work as well as the paid ones.

Thanks for the info ,I have down loaded The VPN but the iPlayer will not play through the apple tv to my Sony T V.
Any suggestions?

This is because you are unable to get a VPN for Apple TV. Which ever device you download the VPN, thats the device it will only work on. There are a few methods of setting a VPN up through your WiFi but i dont know how that works.
There is a few alternative ways you can have it working. For Example:
-Add VPN to iPad or iPhone, Open iPlayer, Play to Apple TV (or if needed,turn on mirroring)
-Use VPN on Laptop, Open iPlayer, connect HDMI cable from TV to Apple TV and connect to Laptop
