Bus La Marina to Alicante
Can anyone tell me the times of buses on Friday either from the Urb or the Village to Alicante centre, also where it stops in the Urb?
Or does anyone know cheap taxi service?
Hi Joanne,
I was over a fortnight ago. Then (and I believe it's the same now until the summer schedule), there was only one bus a day. The bus stop on the Urb is opposite Tourist Information office near the Police station. Problem is it's only a small bus (about 22 seater) and by the time it gets to the Urb it is usually full or only a few seats left. The previous time I was there, there were six of us and we went for the bus on three occasions and didn't get on. The other week, four of us were lucky enough to get the last seats. It's either 1025 or 1035 but it doesn't really matter as it is always at least 15 minutes late in my experience. Fare is €3.80 each as I recall, one way. I've asked at tourist information as to when the larger bus will start running but they say they don't know as they have no control over the timetable. The return bus is about 2pm which of course is a waste of time as the one from the Urb doesn't get you to Alicante before 1130am if you're lucky. I have bleated about this situation before on this forum. I don't know how people who do not own or hire a car manage with this woeful service. A local lady did tell me that for the return, you can get a bus at about 4.30 pm from Alicante to Guardamar and then one about 6pm to the Urb. I haven't checked that but it might be worth looking at. As for taxis, we got one back from Alicante to the Urb and it was €42. The taxi company on Avenida de Londres advertise this service I believe for €35. However, I think there are only 3 taxis serving the Urb so you may have difficulty getting one, as I have in the past. If you speak to people in the local pubs, there is always someone who will point you towards a customer who will provide this service. However, it's illegal and uninsured and in my view should be avoided. It's been mentioned on this forum that the Police are clamping down on this and if caught, both drivers and passengers face hefty fines. Clearly this is not to be recommended for the reasons stated and a few more. Good luck and if you find out anything different to what I've said above, I'd be glad to hear about it.
