We are a semi=retired couple buying a holiday villa in the next 3 months in the Oasis urb in LM, we dont drive so will be very much relying on buses and taxis to get to Alc and Torre, are there any public transport in the LM urb, and are the local amenities within walking distance.. We are familiar with the region but never stayed in LM. Any feedback is appreciated.. Thanks

Budget for  a cheap run around  car, Public transport  not  great,  Holiday  and Living  in an area  2  different  worlds,

Shopping  in Hot  weather  depending  on Public  transport  maybe a distance  to your nearest  stop,  would not  fancy  that and Taxis  are expensive  if using  2 or 3 times  a  week=  Cheap run round Car

Thanks for your reply, although I saw that there is the inmaculada bus service to the beach.. which part in LM is well covered in terms of public transport and amenities? Many thanks, Diane

Yes  not  driving  but not many options  available  to them in La  Marina   that applies  to  many  other  areas up and down Orihuela Costa  if  not in  central area

Thanks, according to the estate agent over there, there is no issues with public transport & amenities, then again they would say that.. We stayed in la zenia few months ago and we didn't see any issues south of torre, in fact a better service than over here..

Hello

According to the regular replies on here the bus service in La Marina is minimal ---one bus seems to pass through occasionally but not going to Torrevieja or Alicante, you would need to get a 2nd  bus going  to those areas.

I think the beach service  is good but limited to a few weeks at the height of summer JulyAug.

Other facilities  seem plentiful but whether they are in walking distance will obviously depend on where you choose  to  live. I have friends who have a villa in San Fulgencio(La Marina) but couldnt manage without their car as main supermarkets etc are a distance away.

You can only decide by being there and looking around

Cheers

Thanks,

We are planning to look around first before we commit.. any decent hotels in LM as an alternative to Torre or guardamar ones?

The Golden  rule from this  forum  is  Rent  before you purchase

There are no hotels in La Marina.

Can't quite see why you have set your sights on it if you don't drive.

You say you want to go to Torrevieja and Alicante city, suggest you look at living in Torrevieja.

Cheers, J
