OK many thanks
Does anyone know if there are any English speakers at any of these branches? There used to be one in my branch in Algorfa, but it would appear no longer. I have been emaling them since February asking for a balance, and with a query but they have not responded once, not even an automated reply. I have rang and because I cant converse in Spanish they disconnect me. We are UK based and it is seriously frustrating. We are out again in September and will then close the account but I would love to speak to someone in the meantime!

I use Caja Mar Rural now becuase used to use La Caixija for years but for same reason as you got fed up with being palmed off.I find them very helpful and always at least one speaks english in branch. My branch is in San Miguel De Salinas but i believe there is a branch near to you in Almoradi
Thanks for your reply. Do you by chance have an email address for Caja Rural that will respond to you in English? They always did reply to me, no problem, now it is as if I have been blocked. I have now opened an account with Sabadell in Almoradi and they give a good service, but Caja Rural are shocking.
Many Thanks

Hi
Many people on this forum use https://wise.com/ - minimal charges and a great exchange rate.
Cheers

We have been using the Caixa bank branch in La Marina.
Not cheap but trustworthy...
For example:-
Just transferred 40000€ to our UK bank. They charged us 80€😡 just to allow ME to do an online transfer and move the money from our caxia account to a Key Currencies account so they can convert it to £s and put it in our UK bank for us.
Not cheap as I said !

Hi John,
I'd recommend you open a Wise account. Then you can transfer €s from your Caixa bank account to Wise (free of charges because Wise has a European IBAN), then transfer the €s in your Wise account into £s for onward transmission to your UK bank - and, of course, you can move £s to Spain as well. Wise offers the best exchange rates and is also completely transparent with the fee it charges, which is displayed before you commit to the transfer. It's all online, so you don't have to speak to a sales agent. Have a look at this link:
If you have any queries, just ask, as many forum members have a Wise account - especially non-residents, who have been ditching their expensive Spanish banks completely and using Wise instead.
Kind regards,
Kim
